Final Semester Seniors, There IS A Light At The End Of The Tunnel

Although it may not seem possible, focus on more of right now and less of what's next.

Right now during your last semester of college, life seems more stressful than ever. While trying to beat senioritis by finishing up your last few credits, stressing about what the hell you're going to do with your degree, all while still trying to enjoy your last semester in collegeā€¦ you're wondering if the stress of it all is even worth it.

Well, the answer is yes, it is worth it. It is worth it because even if you have absolutely no idea what you're going to do after graduation, your possibilities are endless.

At this moment in time, your possibilities as infinite as they ever will be. Where will you end up living? What jobs will you interview for? Will some jobs deny me? Will I even get a job?!

Although this can be the cause of our stress and anxiety, the unknown of the future can also be so exciting.

To dream about the number of opportunities that have yet to come into our lives and the success and happiness that could come out of them makes up for all of the weight and doubt.

At this stage in our lives, we are the most vulnerable we'll ever be in our career paths. We are fresh out of college with little to no experience and a degree that basically says, "I'm supposed to be an expert in this area of study so hire me".

That being said, we are open for almost any job offer we can get. As a newbie, we have to make our way up the totem pole. We may need to be the office coffee run bitch for a while, but the opportunities to come are worth it.

Not only are the possibilities endless in our career, but in our lives in general. The places we will live, the people we will meet, and all of the life lessons we will endure.

So, as a little reminder to all my fellow soon-to-be graduates, rather than stressing about what's next, enjoy right now.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast ā€œBirthdayā€ on anyoneā€™s birthday. I knew all of the words to ā€œBack In The U.S.S.Rā€ by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. Iā€™m not someone to ā€œfangirlā€ but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
