The two words that can make any college student happy once spoken are the words "syllabus week," where we get to chill for the first week of the semester. But then there are those two words that can make any college student's hairs go up once spoken: "finals week."
It doesn't usually tend to creep onto us until the week prior, and when it does, it hits us like a truck. And everything makes you mad. That extra credit assignment you missed? Regret. That in class quiz you missed, because you skipped class? More regret. (I promise I'm not guilty of these, mom.)
After calculating your grade at least 25 times, you realize you need an A on the final exam to pull an A in the class. At first, it does not seem realistic. But the more you try the different calculations, the better that A sounds. And as scary as it may seem, you finally tell yourself it is most definitely doable. This is when you start your grind.
So, you form a study group. You find actual smart and helpful people in your class, and ask them if they want to study together. Hopefully, they say yes. But then you realize they know just as much as you, which is usually not much.
You soon realize that sleep is for the weak and sleep is something you soon will have to give up in order to obtain this A in the class. Not sleeping sounds a lot harder than it actually is.
Now you're tired, stressed, angry, and probably hungry, because let's face it, when aren't I hungry. Everyone who talks to you gets a piece of your wrath. At first you feel bad, but then you remember they're probably going through the same thing.
Then, it hits. It is officially test time and you do not know how to approach the situation. Do I go in confidently and leave confidently, but then have a chance of disappointment? Or do I go in with low expectations and leave room for disappointment? By the time you're about to make your decision, you look in front of you and BAM. There's the test sitting in front of you.
You all walk out of the classroom after your last exam and just don't even know how to react.
But then you realize that it's over. It's actually.. over. And there is only one way to celebrate.
