Finals are upon us. It's a time of stress and endless hours in the library. It is important to pull yourself away and refuel before you continue studying so that you can perform to the best of your abilities. Oftentimes when studying we find ourselves grabbing unhealthy snacks, but it is important to fuel your body correctly so that you can stay on top of your game while preparing for your dreaded finals.
1. Protein bars
Protein bars are the perfect snack to bring to the library. They are small, portable and come in a variety of flavors and brands. It is always easy to find a protein bar that you like. I love Quest bars as they have lots of protein in them that keeps me full for a long period of time.
2. Greek yogurt with granola and fruit
Greek yogurt is a classic snack that keeps you full for longer. To spice up your Greek yogurt, add some granola and sliced fruit for extra flavor. It is a delicious way to curb your sweet tooth.
3. Banana Boats
For those of you who love bananas, banana boats are such a fun twist. To make a banana boat you cut a banana in half and then add some peanut butter and granola. It is such a yummy snack.
4. Hummus and veggies
Hummus is a great option that has protein which will satiate your hunger pains. Veggies like carrots, celery and cauliflower are great options to dip into your hummus instead of pretzels, as vegetables are dense with nutrients. Go grab some hummus and veggies for the perfect study snack.
5. Trail mix
Trail mix is such an easy go-to snack. It combines protein and healthy fats, which help you maintain stamina. Either find a trail mix at your local grocery store which combines unsalted nuts and dried fruit or opt to make your own healthy nut mix.
6. Avocado toast
Avocado toast is a trendy food option right now. Toast some bread and mash up an avocado on top of the bread and there you go. It is quick and easy to make and combines healthy fats and carbs that will keep your brain stimulated and your stomach full.
7. Air-popped popcorn
Popcorn is always a go-to study snack. The best way to make sure that you are not eating too much popcorn is to get the single serving bags from brands like Skinny Pop. It's delicious, quick and always easy to find at your local store.
8. Laughing Cow cheese and crackers
If you are craving something creamy and tasty, look no further than this snack. Laughing Cow cheese is a great option that is filled with protein. It is easily spreadable, so grab some crackers and a Laughing Cow wedge.
9. Frozen grapes
Frozen grapes are one of my favorite snacks in the world. Go to your local grocery store and grab some grapes and then stick them in a Ziploc bag and place them into the freezer. I promise frozen grapes are addicting and will curb your need for a dessert.
10. Ants on a Log
This is a throwback to childhood. Ants on a Log combines all you could ever desire in a snack. It is sweet and salty. Just grab some celery, add some peanut butter and throw on some raisins for a perfect snack.
11. Apple with peanut butter
Apples with peanut butter are a great way to combine protein and sugars to keep your body going. Cut up an apple and smear some crunchy or creamy peanut butter on.
Remember that you are almost done with finals. Make sure to fuel your body appropriately in order to stay on top of your game. And hey, you can always treat yourself to some ice cream or candy as a reward!
