These days, YouTube and filmmaking are starting to go more hand in hand. Independent filmmakers are starting to release short films on YouTube, trailers for big budget blockbusters get millions of views and movie lovers aren't afraid to express their opinions in the comments section below.

If you're anything like me, you're a film lover (or maker) and a YouTube nerd as well. I find myself always looking for channels that are film-centric and getting lost in videos that analyze different aspects of film and filmmaking. They can be so captivating and I love learning different perspectives of an industry I love so much.

I wanted to share my top film based YouTube channels in no particular order. These will explore everything from filmmaking, reviews and analytics.

1. Cinefix

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8A4ivmCCk4

"Cinefix" is an absolutely brilliant channel that touches on so many different aspects of film. They talk about cinematography, sound design, costuming, the works. Their top ten lists are extremely well thought out and thorough. As a viewer, you can tell how much effort they put into each choice they make. They also do reviews, podcasts and many other different series on their channel. My favorite of which is "Art of the Scene," where they take famous scenes from movies and explain how they were done. This channel is so well rounded and definitely worth the subscribe.

2. What the Flick?!

"What the Flick?!" is an amazing channel for reviews. Their reviews are in depth, well informed and no-nonsense. These reviews often happen with a panel of three people who have been in the industry for years, and it's wonderful to hear a bunch of different opinions instead of a single person ranting at you. Their conversations are so great to hear, and I trust their judgment. They aren't lacking in the content department by any stretch of the imagination either. They upload very frequently and they review every film they can get their hands on, and even a few TV shows as well.

3. Every Frame a Painting

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Q3eITC01Fg

"Every Frame a Painting" is a gem of a movie-centric YouTube channel that doesn't have nearly enough subscribers. This channel may only post once a month, but it's because the videos are so detailed, beautifully edited and are well worth the wait. Each video looks at a very specific and technical aspect of film and breaks it down. They talk about different techniques and editing choices and how they affect your viewing experience. They have videos about dialogue, scene blocking, pacing and so much more.

4. RocketJump Film School

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pbeik55Tnik&index=9&list=PLw_JAmvzR_MDc3gAm8zkOKg30T279x7r6

"RocketJump" is the perfect channel for people who want to actually dive in and make films. They legitimately have lessons and in-depth "how to" videos for those looking to make their own content. This channel touches on every aspect of film from cinematography, directing, screenwriting, to even tips for the ever valuable PAs and crew members. The producers of this channel also make their own web series and they use examples from their shooting and editing processes. They break down lessons in color grading, character development and even safety on set. They have interviews and discussions with experts in their respective fields, and they provide immensely valuable insight. I would highly recommend this channel to anyone who is thinking about any aspect of the film industry.

Hopefully this list has excited your inner movie buff, and that you've maybe even found a new favorite YouTube channel.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
