The season of giving is upon us, and it is accompanied by the season of all things fattening. From candy to cookies to warm drinks, everyone seems to have their favorite holiday treats. They make for an easy gift when you’re just not sure what to get someone, but what happens when your loved one doesn’t have a sweet tooth? Finding the perfect gift can often be a struggle, but don’t fear! I’ve compiled a list of inexpensive items for every fitness nut on your Christmas list this season.

1. Hair Accessories

Ponytail holders, bobby pins, headbands. Women use them all. We also lose them all. Chances are if a woman in your life frequents the gym (even if she doesn’t) she uses one, if not all of these items. There’s also a good chance that she’s always looking to find that hair tie she knew she just had. This gift will never go underappreciated, because it is always needed. Be a hero, and give the gift she really wants (and needs) loose hair everywhere will thank you.

2. Earbuds

Most people don’t work out to the sound of their own breathing or the grunts in the gym. Instead, they use earbuds to provide distraction from the outside world. Personally, I am always losing or breaking mine and always need new ones. They come in a wide variety ranging from wireless, buds, and over-the-ear. Look around and find a pair that fits within your budget. More expensive options include Sony and Beats, but much cheaper ones that still present great quality can easily be found. (I like SkullCandy).

3. Snacks

Chances are if your person exercises frequently, they also eat frequently…like all the time. Therefore, snacks are always a great option! Most fitness foodies have their go-to protein bars and snack packs they can easily toss into a bag for fuel on the go. Some popular suggestions include: Cliff Bars, Quest Bars, Nut Packs, Peanut Butter Pouches, and individual protein packs.

4. Water Bottle

Hydration is a key component to any healthy lifestyle, and you can never have too many water bottles. They come in a variety of colors, patterns, and prices to fit every need and budget. You can never go wrong with a Camelback, but browse your options to find the one you think is best. Don’t forget to check out self-filtering and thermal options!

5. Deodorant Wipes

With working out also comes sweat. Nobody likes to be sticky and smelly, but busy lifestyles don’t always allow for long, hot showers. In this case, deodorant wipes are perfect for the busy-bodies on your list. They are easily thrown into gym bags, purses, and glove compartments and can be used for a quick cleanse after a sweaty gym session.

6. Dry Shampoo

Adhering to the theme of time restraints, if one does not have time to shower, they also do not have time to wash their hair, let alone dry it. In this case, dry shampoo is a lifesaver. Pair it with the deodorant wipes, and the person receiving them will question whether they ever have to shower again. (Haha, kidding. It’s a joke. Please, shower frequently)

7. Socks

This isn’t a joke. Hear me out. Most athletes are pretty particular when choosing their socks, and they always seem to need more. No one want old, holey socks on a run or when they’re trying to squat. Therefore, socks will always be appreciated, because they’re constantly being thrown out and always needed. It’s a fairly cheap gift that will be so appreciated.

8. Tank Tops

You can never have too many exercise clothes, right? Plus, loving your outfit helps you to hate your workout a little less. Tank tops, and shirts in general, come in all ranges of sizes, colors, shapes, and patterns. Popular brands such as Nike and Adidas are pretty fail-proof, but branding isn’t necessary. Shop around and find fun designs you know your person will love! The brand that made it won’t matter, I promise. After all, it’s the thought that counts.

9. Hand Sanitizer

Most gyms are dirty places. Save your loved one from germs with a festive smelling hand sanitizer. They’re super portable and can easily be thrown into a gym back to use when finished.

10. Hats

Hats in all varieties are always appreciated. Whether it’s a baseball cap worn in the gym or a beanie for those cold morning runs, you can never go wrong. Plus, they can be totally customizable. From sports teams, to favorite colors, to charitable donations, such as Love Your Melon beanies, there is an option for everyone!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
