I am a feminist. I never questioned it. I always knew I believed that I should have the same political, social, legal and economic rights as a man does.

We live in a society that constantly objectifies woman. We are continuously being told that we are only as good as the way we look. We are compared and put against each other. And I am so sick of it. Stop judging and start accepting. Stop gossiping and start fighting. I am not a “man hater.” I am pro-equality. I am a feminist for men as much as I am a feminist for women.

I am so thankful for the women in history that have fought for my right to vote, my right to choose, my right to be who I want to be. But there is still so much room for improvement.

Because I am a female I am not paid as much as a man for the same type of work. Why? Because I am a female, my input is overlooked. Why? Because I am a female, my worth is only as good as my appearance. Why? There has already been a great amount of change since the 1960s but if we stop fighting, it’s not going to improve anymore. I don’t want my gender or appearance to inhibit my ability to be treated equally.

Every individual on this planet is worth so much. I wish more people would understand this. When we stop comparing, judging, discriminating against someone for their gender or their appearance, we have the power to change the world. I am a feminist because I believe we are capable of this change. When we start accepting and collaborating, we can do so much. There is this type of violence in the world, where we are blaming, hurting, and making idiotic assumptions. We are putting our support in individuals that use hate speech to fuel others. If we are fueled by hate, what will our world be fueled by? We are so consumed in this toxic mess that we have to get out of. We need to get over ourselves and start realizing the impact we can make.

I am a feminist because I believe that we are each capable of living in such a way that promotes equality, positivity and change. Take action, be grateful, and live with a sense of purpose. I am a feminist because I am aware that there are inequalities in this world and I am here to change them. We are all here to enact and promote change. When we stop objectifying, judging, discriminating, and hating, we have the power to make a difference. I am a feminist because I believe it is possible to change the world.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
