As a young woman, I've realized that there are so many things that surprise me everyday. Here are just a few mysteries us women stumble upon quite often.

1. Why does shampoo always run out faster than conditioner?

I find that I run out of and have to restock my shampoo way more than I run out of my conditioner.

2. Why does my hair turn out perfect on the days I stay home?

I could spend hours trying to get my messy-bun to look cute on the days I have to leave the house. Yet, my messy-bun looks the best on lazy days.

3. Why do I insist on wearing heels even though they’re an actual pain in the ass?

By the end of the night my feet are almost bleeding and I can't walk straight, but I always decide that they're the right shoe choice.

4. Why is taking my hair down from a ponytail after a long day actually the best sensation ever?

There are a lot of feelings to be felt, but the post-pony massage has to be one of the most pleasurable of them all.

5. Why do I feel the need to take off all my nail polish after I see the tiniest chip on one nail?

The remaining nine nails may be flawless, but as long as there's a teeny nick on one of them, I'd rather not wear any polish at all.

6. Why does my skin act up on the days I need to look my best?

My skin knows exactly when I'm going to be in photos, interviewed, or meeting new people; they devise their plan from the night before to plant acne seeds in my pores.

7. Why do I treat my last bobby pin or hair tie like a precious baby?

No matter how many trips I make to the beauty section of Target, I'm always finding myself running out of these bad boys.

8. Why does it always rain the second I step outside after doing my hair?

It's as if the weather gods from above are determined that my freshly-straightened hair turn wavy and frizzy after all that work.

9. Why do I always end up writing back to my crush faster than he ever replies to me?

It'll take a guy three hours to respond to a two-word text, and yet I'm hitting 'send' the second I see his name pop up in my notification window.

10. Why can’t I wear a little black dress to every formal occasion?

You mean I actually have to go into my closet and pick out a unique, creative outfit? Color coordination, jewelry planning and all? It's so much easier to wear a LBD; everything goes with black.

11. Why do we get blamed for being cat-called?

It doesn't matter if I'm walking down the street wearing a parka or a bikini; unwanted sexual comments are never okay, regardless of whether substances were used or not.

12. Why are we considered petty so easily?

Women can be considered catty if we're assertive, proactive, or the least bit demanding. Yet, guys can be all of the former and are considered strong leaders and alpha-males.

13. Why do I always miss a patch of skin while shaving my legs?

Every girl has had that awkward realization while wearing leg-revealing clothes that they missed a tiny spot of hair. Of course these patches always seem bigger than they are, and that everyone will definitely notice them, even though both thoughts are irrational.

14. Why do I fall asleep so much faster when I’m not alone in bed?

It seems as if I fall asleep in no time when I'm spooning. Are boy toys the cure to insomnia? Maybe.

15. Why does so much go into planning a beach day?

I wish heading to the beach could be as simple as jumping in my car and taking off. Sadly, as girls know, it takes a lot of work to plan a beach outing.

16. Why do I take a million pictures just to find the ‘perfect’ one?

All the pictures are almost exactly the same, but it's determinantal to bombard my camera roll with nearly-identical pictures just to go through the post-photo deliberation period.

17. Why does every episode of Friends seem like I’m watching it for the first time?

I know all the lines and how the story ends, but every time I watch them they're as funny as the last time I binged.

18. Why does it feel like I’m losing a gallon of blood when I’ve only barely spotted?

I'm always afraid there's a pool of blood on my chair whenever I get up, just to find out that I'm almost completely spotless.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
