Only three digits on my bedside clock changed. 11:59 turned into 12:00. October 21st turned into October 22nd. Out loud, I whispered to myself: "Happy Birthday!" I am officially an adult.
Many people ask the question: "Do you feel any older?" Whenever a birthday rolls around. For the past years nothing really changed, but this year, the big one-eight, something clicked inside of me. I was hit with the sudden realization that in this span of 365 days, I will vote in a Presidential Election, I will graduate high school, I will go to college, and I will make some of the last memories ever with some of my best friends. It's sad but it's life. Life is all about growing up, time doesn't stop, we don't either. Reaching adulthood is a big step in that and it's so beyond exciting, it's invigorating to be developing into a functioning member of society.
I still have a lot (and I mean A LOT) of maturing to do, but going through this major step of growing up and becoming an adult is such an eye-opening experience. I can't wait to see where life takes me and I hope and pray the best for the friends I have that they mature and find their own lives that lead them to happiness.
Happy adulthood to me! May God and life guide me down the best path that leads to the happiest I can be. As I grow and age older and older every day, I hope to learn more, see more, meet more, and experience more all so that when I'm done growing, I'm wise.
