I'm Feeling 22: Life Lessons I've Learned in the Past 22 Years

I didn’t feel so old after high school, but once I turned 21 all of a sudden I had sort of a quarter-life crisis. I started feeling old and and then I thought, I’ll be 25, then 30 and 40 and so on. Life is too short! Cherish it! Ahhh!

I apologize for the slight outburst. Anyway, since my birthday was this past weekend, I thought that it would be appropriate if I listed 22 of the things that I have learned over the past 22 years. I couldn’t taken a them to it, but I just wrote down things that have some depth to them.

1. I wish I would’ve have learned this at an earlier age. I worried and was anxious about stupid stuff. Problems can’t always be fixed they way you want them to. When trials come, you spend more time worrying and stressing over life when half of the time the problems work themselves out. Pray about and move on.

2. I thought $1,000 was a lot of money until I started classes at a four year private school. I'm not too sure I like this adulting thing too much!

3. I have no regrets, and you shouldn’t either. All of our experiences (good or bad) have made us who were are today. Spending time on the past will halt what is in store for you in the future. As long as you are growing, you have nothing to be ashamed of.

4. I learned later rather then sooner that change becomes the norm. When these time come, make the best of it.

5. Life can get scary and serious because of this whole adulting thing but you can still have fun.

6. Naps are extremely necessary.

7. People are people and it’s life. Everyone is never going to agree on the same thing. People will have their opinions and they are entitled to them.

8. Life is actually in fact, not fair.

9. Being thankful is essential, no mater where you are in life. It’s a blessing to see another year. No matter the circumstances, it could always be worse.

10. A little can go a long way.

11. That this world was not built for big people, and will probably continue to get smaller. #EconomyPlus

12. NEVER think critically at night.

13. It’s okay to have feelings. #human

14. Take breaths.

15. If you really want to make a difference, being understanding is paramount.

16. Approach every situation with love.

17. Take responsibility for your actions.

18. Time waits for no one.

19. There is power in the tongue. Use it for good.

20. God is always there. He always has been and always will be.

21. Smile and laugh at least once a day.

22. Taylor Swift is awesome.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
