To my favorite high school teacher,
There is so much I have already said to you, and so many thank you's I have already given you. My last day of high school was incredibly bittersweet, and one of the many reasons is because I wouldn't get to sit in your classroom five days a week, laughing and talking to you about life outside of the class you teach. I had to say goodbye to one of the best teachers I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. You inspired me to not only grow into a mature and happy human, but a good one. You inspired me to be more caring and to give more to this world. As I am in college now and slowly realizing high school was definitely one of the easier parts of life, I am constantly reminding myself of all you taught me. I knew when I graduated how amazing you were, but now that I'm in a whole different world away from the comforting walls of high school, I want to thank you all over again.
Thank you for letting me spend most of my free time during the school day in your classroom. It felt like a second home to me and was definitely my favorite part of the building. Also, thank you for giving me advice and treating me like a friend. Sure, you were my teacher, and it was hard to not always call you by your first name, but you're one of the coolest and best friends high school ever led me to.
Most importantly, thank you for teaching me that you need to be happy with what you do. I can honestly say I'm so content and pleased with the career path I have decided to follow and part of the reason is because you inspired me to do just that. Seeing you so happy in your work place makes me want to work my butt off and create a beautiful career that makes me happy. This life is only given to us once, so why not be happy? Why choose something that makes us dread our alarms going off every morning? Without even realizing it, you taught me to take a literal initiative to be happy and to be good to other people and use my talents to make the world better just as you do every day.
High school had its ups and its downs, but I can honestly say you were such an amazing part of it. I graduated with a teacher as one of my best friends. How sweet is that? Your wisdom and humor impacted me in more ways than you know, and I'm so glad you had such a strong presence in my teenage years. I hope one day I can be half of the awesome and hilarious adult you are. Thank you so much for everything.
Sincerely,
Your former student and forever friend
