7 Reasons Why Fall Is My Favorite Season And You'll Never Change My Mind

When I tell people my favorite season is fall, they usually assume it's for the most basic reasons – pumpkin spice lattes and pretty tree photography. While they're not wrong, there are so many other reasons, starting with the fact that I don't have to worry about constantly sweating for three people or wondering what type of humid it will be outside.

It's sweater weather; there are so many cozy, fun, and exciting things to do when the weather gets chilly, the environment turns beautiful hues of warm tones, and the spooks come out of every corner!

1. Apple cider and apple picking

And don't even get me started on the apple cider and cinnamon donuts that take over fall fairs and become the next addiction in my life of cravings. I absolutely love going apple picking with my family, whether it's walking through the environment or being able to pick the fruit which ends up at our dinner table, it's a nice bonding activity for anyone during the fall. My family and I do it every year or so, and we often mosey through the accompanying fair and large, beautiful pieces of land.

2. Pumpkin picking, because, duh

Let's face it, we've been doing this since we were like, two, picking out the family pumpkin and deciding the fate of Halloween. There was always one child that wanted a specific size and shape, and always a kid that just didn't care if it was a gourd or a pumpkin they went home with. There's so much versatility to pumpkins! There's carving, designing, jack-o-lanterns, pumpkin pie, pumpkin seeds – honestly just stock up on as many pumpkins as you can. They're the gold of fall.

3. 31 Days of Halloween

Yes, I still watch kids Halloween movies leading up until Halloween, but I also watch all the scary horror movies galore and the classics like Hocus Pocus, which can't be ignored pre-October 31st. This is a super cool holiday; you get to dress up and be another person, character, or thing for a whole day and November 1st all of the candy is essentially half off! Find all of the spooks you can during this time and take advantage of the environment around you; it adds to the mystery, intrigue, and even horror...

4. Fireside chats

I've always had some of my best and most deep conversations over fire pits during the fall, allowing the crisp fall wind to wash over everyone huddled in a circle and warm under blankets. It's the perfect environment to delve into feelings and be with those you love – and it's the perfect excuse to wear cute sweaters and hide under three layers of blankets – my eternal dream.

5. Netflix cozying

Talk about hiding out under layers of blankets – some of the best things to do during the fall is to saddle up with a friend, some family (or even a partner, for extra snuggles) and watch lots of feel-good or even some spooky movies. Grab a mug of hot chocolate, or your preferred Starbucks coffee style, and strap in for a relaxing night inside. This might be the perfect time to stay inside during particularly chilly nights, or even just to give some time back to yourself after all of the other activities outside!

6. Candles, Clothes, and Comfort!

The three C's of fall, also known as candles, clothes, and comfort are some – if not the most important – things to keep in mind during the fall. This is the season to make your room, apartment, or house smell like gingerbread cookies and woods, and I'm here for it. It's also the best time to wear extra large sweaters and leggings and just show up to class feeling super chic but also super comfy. Scarves are a must, and feel free to wear lots of boots (with the pretty knit socks), and that near hipster one-with-earth vibe!

7. Go for a hike

This is one of the best times to go for a hike; the trees are gorgeous, the weather is fantastic and usually consistent, it isn't too humid or too hot, so take a back-pack, some water, and a map and explore! Hiking has always been a really fun pastime for me – I love the outdoors and during the fall, everything seems just a tad more beautiful. Take advantage of this transitional period and enjoy every moment!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
