Summer is almost here, and that means local ice cream shops will be opening up again for the season. It seems that everyone has at least one flavor that they can always count on not to let them down. Dr. Alan Hirsch recently did a study, believing that ice cream flavors gave true insight into someone's personality as well as their compatibility with other flavors. Here's what your favorite ice cream flavor says about you—

1. Vanilla lovers are the life of the party.

Contrary to what people may think about vanilla lovers being boring, you are actually just the opposite. According to neurologist Dr. Alan Hirsch, the head of the Smell and Taste Treatment and Research Foundation, if you like vanilla then you are colorful, impulsive, a risk taker who sets high goals and has high expectations of yourself. You also enjoy close family relationships. You are most likely compatible with vanilla or coffee.

2. Mint chocolate chip lovers are driven.

Hirsch says mint chocolate chip and plain chocolate chip lovers are success oriented and usually very good at what they do. In social setting you are charming, and generous, but can also be argumentative. Hirsch says this flavor is most compatible with butter pecan or strawberry.

3. Butter pecan lovers are perfectionists.

Butter pecan or caramel lovers tend to have very high standards and integrity. Hirsch says, "They sometimes avoid saying what they truly mean so they don't hurt other people's feelings... but they are a 'take charge' sort of person". You are also competitive, aggressive in sports and have a take-charge type of personality. Most compatible with butter pecan or chocolate.

4. Chocolate lovers are extroverts.

Dr. Hirsch says, "People who like chocolate are like those who like chocolate chip, and what they are is they tend to be extroverts. They tend to be exciting. They crave novelty, and they like to be the center of attention." You are likely flirtatious and can be gullible. Chocolate lovers are mostly compatible with mint chocolate chip or butter pecan.

5. Strawberry lovers are introverts.

You are detail oriented and extremely devoted, but you can be skeptical at times. In a study conducted by Dreyer's/Edy's, results pointed to this flavor being logical and thoughtful. Strawberry lovers are most compatible with mint chocolate chip.

6. Banana lovers are honest.

If you love banana flavored ice cream, you are honest, easy going, and well adjusted. This flavor is compatible with just about anything! Banana lovers are the "perfect spouse and parent," according to Dr. Hirsch.

7. Coffee lovers live in the moment.

Hirsch says coffee ice cream lovers are not concerned about the future and thrive on the "passion of the moment,". You also tend to be dramatic and lively. This flavor is most compatible with vanilla or another coffee lover.

8. Black raspberry lovers are creative.

You tend to be creative and artistic. You are a good judge of character and may sometimes come off as rebellious, but you are also very interesting. Black raspberry is most compatible with coffee or others who share their same flavor.

9. Bubble gum lovers are kids at heart.

Your life is full of adventure and you love surprises. You have a sweet tooth, and are often planning ahead. This flavor is very fun and definitely a kid at heart. You are most compatible with banana or vanilla.
