When I was younger, I never really realized how cartoons were more aimed at adults than they were children. It wasn't until I read my friend's article that I thought how much 90's and early 2000's cartoon characters really related to your typical college student. I did some digging and came to the conclusion that cartoon character from when we were growing up were basically foreshadowing how we would be as college students.
I thought about shows like "Rugrats," "Hey Arnold," "Rocket Power," and "Spongebob Squarepants," and how the characters on those shows, though they may have been children, relate exactly to my group of friends at college.
Angelica Pickles
Angelica is your typical high-maintenance, boy-obsessed, sorority girl. She is the daughter of two parents that give her whatever she wants, because if it's not her way, then it's the highway. She likes to be in charge and have all the attention on her, whether it's from the younger kids she hangs around with or the on-lookers on the street. If you give her a compliment, then she will bat her eyelashes at you until you two wake up together the next morning. And, of course, just like any other sorority girl, cookies are her weakness.
Otto Rocket
Otto is your typical, drug-obsessed skater boy. You'll probably see him skateboarding down Tenth Street and not going anywhere within the vicinity of North Jordan Avenue. He's extremely lazy and would rather spend his time with a bong in his hand than attend any class on time. He likes to spend his weekends at the bars and house parties playing pong and will probably be your main weed connection from freshman year until senior year.
Doug Funnie
Doug is your typical Kelley Business student. He was raised by a family with a mother, father, and one other child. His father was probably a big businessman who encouraged his children to strive to get straight A's along with being an International Baccalaureate diploma student and a member of The National Honor Society. He's probably going to end up majoring in finance or accounting, and you'll most likely see him looking dorky and studious at all times of the day. You'll most likely find him, if not in the Kelley library, then in the stacks wing of the Wells library.
Patrick Star
Patrick is a typical frat star (no pun intended). He has a forgetful memory due to his high volume alcohol consumption and marijuana use. He usually arrives late to class and is a high-functioning procrastinator, always asking you for help on projects and homework. He enjoys having fun and hanging out with friends, but usually doesn't stray from his BFF friend group. He isn't your cleanest friend and probably would pay you to clean his frat room and do his laundry.
Tommy Pickles
Tommy is the life of the party. He loves to be surrounded by his friends and hanging out with people. He's the most popular guy in school, and everyone knows his username on all forms of social media. He's the guy that actually is active and keeps up with Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, and Instagram, because he has such a large following and is definitely insta-famous. You can maybe find him in a fraternity, but only if he is either the rush chair, the president, or the social.
Dexter
Dexter is your typical Med School-Bound student. You'll oftentimes find him lingering around the chem building or studying math problems in Wells. The only fraternity that would ever cross his mind is Phi Delta Epsilon, the medical fraternity, and you can bet your bottom dollar that this nice Jewish, med school-bound student was found on the Med Student Birthright trip last summer.
Johnny Bravo
Johnny is your jock of jock friends. Majoring in either sports communication or health and wellness, or aspiring to be a personal trainer, you can always find Johnny lurking around the SRSC. He doesn't drink except on the weekends, and the only drugs you can find in his system are steroid supplements.
