What you need to know before you vote.

In a battle for the most decisive election in American history two of the most despised candidates are facing off. What appeared to be the darkest of hours we thought we found a small glimpse of light--Gary Johnson. However, that small light slowly faded into black when I became aware of how mis-guided young conservatives are. Gary Johnson, former Governor of New Mexico, is the nominee for the Libertarian party which is still in its infancy leaving many to wonder what a Libertarian actually is. A Libertarian, for those who don't know, is someone who believes in the principle of small government and generally holds a rattlesnake attitude (leave me alone and I'll leave you alone). Conservatives are stuck between a rock and a hard place vote for Donald Trump and get painted into a corner or take a shot with the Libertarian party who is off to a rocky start. We need to examine the policies of Johnson before making an investment into his candidacy.

Johnson claims that while Governor of New Mexico he left a surplus of money but sources say that while he inherited a $1.8B debt he grew that debt to $4.6B and at the same time grew the State budget from $4B to $7B. Johnson also likes to brag that he balanced the State budget each year but that's not really impressive when you consider that the New Mexico State Constitution requires the budget to be balanced.

I don't believe Johnson fully understands what libertarianism is because it is not "fiscally conservative and socially liberal" as Johnson put it. The CATO institute put it perfectly, "Libertarianism is the view that each person has the right to live his life in any way he chooses so long as he respects the equal rights of others. Libertarians defend each person's right to life, liberty, and property rights,,," no Mr.Johnson being Libertarian is not being fiscally conservative and socially liberal its about being an advocate for the Constitution.

Johnson's policies show that he is not a true Libertarian, for example, Johnson believes the government should sponsor gay marriage while in general Conservatives and Libertarians believe the government should not be in the marriage business at all. He's also supported forcing businesses to cater to anyone and everyone (Jewish bakery making a cake for a Nazi group) which is also authoritarian and does not promote the values of libertarianism. Johnson also supports government funding of Planned Parenthood which is anti-libertarian because in general Libertarians don't support government funding (taxes). Speaking of taxes Johnson also believes in global warming and as such supports a carbon tax and believes a carbon tax would stop the man made warming.

Before we vote for a Libertarian lets make sure we are getting someone who embodies the true values of libertarianism, someone who will follow the Constitution to the dot, someone who is working for the American people!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
