It’s Father’s Day, and I can’t help but to think of my grandfathers who have both passed away, one in 2010, the other in 2016. Although I was obviously sad to see them go, I was also relieved to know that their suffering of illness would be over, and that they are in a better place. I have so much to thank these men for, so here goes.

Grandfathers, thank you for being the amazing fathers that you were to my own parents. By the way my mom and dad turned out, it is clear to see that you both went above and beyond in your fatherly duties. My dad is the hardest working person I know. He is encouraging, goofy, intelligent and loyal, and he shows just the right amount of protectiveness. All these traits I know were demonstrated by you, his dad, so I thank you for blessing me with the most wonderful father on the planet. My mom is patient, understanding, and always kind. She is constantly willing to give of herself and her time. Again, all these traits I know were demonstrated by you, her dad, so I thank you for blessing me with the most wonderful mother on the planet.

Thank you also for being incredible role models for your grandchildren. While there are traits that I may not have picked up on so much when I was little, I see them now with clarity. You showed your grandchildren endless love, each in your own ways. Whether it was the patience you displayed while teaching us different games and (occasionally) letting us win, or filling us with joy by making us laugh with your cheesy dad jokes, or simply being there to cheer us on at our various life events. You both poured so much love into your grandchildren, and in that, you taught us how to love.

On top of that, you both provided me with a wonderful picture of faith. I can recall the importance of prayer in both of your lives, and it has so beautifully trickled down into your children and your grandchildren. Each of you showed immense dedication to your faith, and it was easy to see that displayed in every aspect of your lives. You both have greatly inspired me to chase a deeper relationship with Christ, and for this I truly cannot thank you enough.

I promise to live out my life striving to be the best version of myself in the hopes that one day, I will see you both again in heaven. In the meantime, continue to pray for me and give a special thanks to the ultimate Father (God, of course) for blessing my life with memories of you. I love and miss you both dearly, happy Father’s Day.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
