Summertime is the time where we all have to start weeding out the bad, and bringing in some good. Consider brining some of these trends into your closet:
1. Suede, Suede, Suede.
I am absolutely obsessed with this trend. You can dress suede up or down, but it always is guaranteed to look flawless (almost).
2. Paperbag Waists
This one is definitely more high-fashion, but I still back it up. And although I can't attest to the comfort of a paperbag waist, I can definitely attest to the cuteness.
3. Slip Dresses
Lingerie is not only for bed now. I love this trend, totally lightweight for the summer, absolutely adorable — and it's so versatile.
4. Anklets
This one, you absolutely have to choose a nice one. There are plenty out there nowadays, but if you pick the wrong kind, I can promise that you will look like an eighth grader who just got home from Myrtle Beach. Here's an example of a cute, socially acceptable one.
5. Weekender Bags
Weekender bags always come in clutch and they're honestly so under-appreciated. They fit everything that you could ever imagine needing into a cute little purse. I totally support weekender bags at all times.
6. Hair Earrings
This one sounds a lot weirder than it actually is. In reality, they're actually really cute, even if they're hard to put in.
7. Literally Anything Off-The-Shoulder
For pale girls like myself, this sounds like a sunburn waiting to happen, but fashion has to rule over comfort sometimes, right?
8. Wedgie Jeans and Shorts
These are not something that I've tried quite yet, but I fully intend on testing it out as soon as possible. It's supposed to fit on you the absolute most perfect way, and I'm so pumped to try them out.
9. No-Rules Fashion
This one is definitely my favorite fashion trend of Summer '16. Essentially, you can just mix patterns and colors and whatever you want, and it's fashionable! What a time to be alive.
10. Capsule Wardrobes
These are so cool. They've been around for a while, but the point of a capsule wardrobe is to have a couple of clothing items (shirts, shoes, pants, etc.) that can be combined to make a lot of aesthetically pleasing outfits. I feel like this is hard to achieve, but if it was achieved by some miracle, I think that it would be a beautiful thing.
11. "Mermaid" Hair
Fav, fav, fav. I'm absolutely in love with mermaid hair. I love pastel colors, and I think that they're just so much cooler in hair. Plus: Queen V got mermaid hair recently.
12. Fringe Sandals
These are definitely the new gladiators. They remind me of Coachella and friendship bracelets, and I'm in love.
13. Pins & Patches
I feel like I really don't need to validate this. I automatically consider anyone in a jean jacket with a bunch of cute pins and patches cooler than myself.
14. Matte Lipstick
I feel like I don't need to explain this one. Originated with the Kylie Lip Kit, it's comfortable, cute and it stays on for a small eternity. I definitely recommend trying Colourpop matte lipsticks, they're my favorites.
15. Leotards
This brings me back to my dance days, but pair it with some high-waisted pants or shorts, and you're in business.
