8 Fashion Tips We Learned From Gigi Hadid

There are very few people in this world that can wear something and have the power to start a major fashion trend. She may only be 21 years old, but Gigi Hadid has proven time and time again that she knows what she is doing when it comes to fashion. From everyday outfits that we can all rock on a day-to-day basis to red carpet looks that we all secretly wish we had a reason to wear, here are some important fashion tips Gigi has taught us!

1. Don't be scared of metallic fabrics and prints.

Unless it is New Year's, people tend to shy away from shiny material. Maybe it is the way that they makes us feel like we stand out in a crowd or the way they makes us feel like there is too much going on. It is okay to rock them at other times than the holidays! Pair these sometimes loud fabrics with subtle accessories like Gigi did and your look will not be too overwhelming.

2. Sometimes less is more.

When in doubt... go simple! With a few simple accessories an outfit can still be cute and classy without going overboard. Just because an article of clothing lacks a busy print doesn't mean you have to accessorize it with big jewelry. A simple necklace or a bag, like Gigi did below, is sometimes all you need to bring a look together.

3. A striped tee and jeans will always work.

There are few pieces of clothing that are timeless... and a striped tee and blue jeans are a few of those items. You can dress it down to run errands and later dress it up to go out to dinner. To add more of your personality to the outfit you can choose a certain style to wear like Gigi did with this striped crop top. It's a simple outfit that you can easily reach for in your closet without much thought.

4. Don't be afraid to wear something different.

It is easy to stick to basic solid colors, and that is something that will almost always work, but do not be afraid to go outside your comfort zone and mix it up a little bit. If you like it and you are confident in it, that is all people are going to fixate on. That... and how they can copy your look.

5. Let your shoes make a statement.

Whether they are your favorite pumps or something more casual it is okay to let your shoes do the talking, especially if you are wearing a simpler outfit. It is like Marilyn Monroe said, "Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world."

6. Black and white will always be classy and elegant.

If you are ever stuck on what to wear, black and white is always going to work. It is a timeless color scheme that works every time. It can be cute and casual or more sophisticated and classy.

7. Travel style can be cute and comfortable.

For most of us, the only requirement for travel style is that it is comfortable. Who wants to sit on a plane for hours in heels and a mini skirt? For the fashion-obsessed girl this might mean sacrificing your style for comfort. However, it is possible to still stay true to your style. A quick simple fix is an oversized coat, which we have seen Gigi do several times before!

8. Don't be afraid of an all black look.

Don't be scared of all black. It is a flattering coloring on everyone and can be quite stylish. There is a reason LBDs are a thing!

Gigi Hadid is making her mark in the modeling world, but she is also a great influence on style, especially for young women. Style goes beyond clothing though. Gigi has worn the daring looks that some of us are too scared won't work, but she proves us wrong and shows us that we can. Not only does she do that, but she also inspires young women to own their own personal style. And really... there is nothing better than being confident in who you are!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
