Farmer Charley’s Corn Maze Adventures

As many of you know Michigan's Fall is my favorite season, this includes one of my favorite family activities, a corn Maze. My family traveled to Farmer Charley's Kackleberry Farm , located at 6421 North Stoney Creek Rd, Monroe, MI 48162. Now I have to admit this is the first time I and my family have ever traveled to this Farm, I had seen it on the side of the highway on my travels south, but never stopped in. This year we finally stopped in.

Let's start with the price and how the organization was super helpful! So when we went the night before it had rained horribly, as expected in Michigan right? Well because of the rain, the maze itself and part of the hayride were closed for the day. Because of this, the cashier ended up giving us entrance for $6 bucks each, honestly, it made us feel really good about the experience because at the end of the day we came for a corn maze. We were greeted by the ticket checker with a warm smile and a great attitude. I absolutely felt at home as soon as we came through the gate.

If you are like me, you love camera opportunities, well let's just say they have a bunch. Ranging from a large chair to cute little wooden cut-outs that your child can stand up and look out...Look how cute they are:

Now any good farm has farm animals, Farmer Charley's is no different. I absolutely love the temperament that the animals had, normally animals can be a bit skittish from my experience, but these guys were great. The fact that they had a station that had many interesting facts that "city" kids may not know was also educational. Being from a farm community myself, I did know most of the questions on their question boards. But having an opportunity to share that information with my kids was very nice. Overall for a petting farm, I would rank this amongst the highest I have personally visited. Again being from the country I have been to more than a few, so A+ Mr. Charley :)

One of my personal favorite activities here is the Pumpkin Chuck! Quite literally this is a Pumpkin shooting Bazooka, it was very cool to watch and rather affordable at 3 shots for $5 bucks. Watch my 3-year-old as she tries to shoot the Pumpkin:

I will say this, the staff at Kackleberry Farm are amazing, seriously I cannot stress this enough! They were funny, engaging and really asked if we were having a good time and tried to make the experience more fun for the kids. The Farm offers bouncy bubbles, tractor rides my girls loved and hayrides. At every turn, the staff would make jokes, make sure we were enjoying our time and were genuinely nice. You don't find that level of customer service around the Metro-Detroit area. Unlike their competitors, I feel like the team that works at Kackleberry Farm really do care about their customer's enjoyment.

What really makes Kackleberry Farm stand out to me is that they were able to bring little girls their heroes! Unexpectedly we stumbled upon Anna and Elsa, who my daughter absolutely adores. We had gone to Disney world earlier this summer and had met the ultimate actresses at the parks, I will say this for being a local Princess Impersonators, well these girls were good. My daughter was absolutely star struck and was raving for weeks about how she had gone to "Disney World" again to her little friends. The young women who played the Princesses did such a nice job with the character, I would love to figure out how to book them for birthday parties. If anyone knows, please pass that information along.

Last but not least, let us not forget the apple cider and pumpkin ice cream. Honestly, you have to taste the hand dipped ice cream and their apple cider slushy it really is the tastiest thing I have had in a very long time. Obviously, they offer pumpkins, apple cider, doughnuts and anything else you can expect from an Apple Orchard/Corn Maze but to be honest their food was exceptional comparatively to the other Corn Mazes I have ever visited. Again, have to give these guys an A+

So all together this was a really fun afternoon with my family and I highly recommend checking out Farmer Charley's Kackleberry Farm you can check out their website, http://kackleberryfarm.com/. I am not one for positive reviews unless I have had an exceptional time and honestly I found nothing wrong with any aspect of my visit. I highly recommend going!!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
