As everyone knows, it is almost Obama's last day in office. There are many people who are sad and there are many people who are glad. As an African-American woman, I'm sad that our first and only black president is leaving after 8 long years. He was basically the only president I paid attention to because when Bush was in office, I was 11 years old. Because I was so young, I didn't care for him and plus I've heard many negative things said about this man and I figured it was true.
There were many people who wanted Obama to stay as president just like the people wanted George Washington to stay in office. But the only people who were saying it was African-American people because he was the first black President. College kids who were for Obama were saying the same thing because he agreed with everything Obama was doing in office. But what people have to realize, Obama needs to go back to a normal life because he had some stressful 8 years in office. Although this man accomplished so many things while he was in office, but that took a lot of time to get that to happen. He has to go back to living life as a regular American, like day-to-day things. I've heard that past presidents receive bodyguards for protection, so that could be good for him when threatening people come into contact with him and his family.
Twitter is flowing with pictures of Obama and his family because there are many other people, who are around my age, said the same thing about Obama basically being their only president. There are some pictures where they are comparing families of the current president and the future president. Well, there are many differences between the two families that I pointed out: Racial difference, party difference, different views on different situations, family sizes, Obama has Netflix Original Movies about him, Trump appeared in TV Shows and Movies, and some people think Obama's family looks better than Trumps family. It's crazy to believe that some people base many things off looks and not for who they are.
On January 10th, President Obama is delivering a Farewell Speech in Chicago, Illinois. Just thinking about this speech saddens me, it's his last speech of his presidency. This man is probably one of the most unforgettable president the U.S. has ever had like I said he was the first Black President. Now, no one can deny that they will miss Obama's and Joe Biden's relationship, that was such a dynamic duo. I have a feeling that the people that wanted him out are going to want him back when they see how Trump acts with all that power. But everyone shall see how it goes; having Obama as President was an absolute pleasure.
