Why Family Vacations Are The Best

Nothing like getting made fun of for what you say.

Coming from a very family-oriented person, family vacations are something I cherish every time we are able to take one.

You always seem to make new memories that all of you are able to remember years later. Whether it be your cousin making a stupid joke that made the entire family laugh themselves into tears or watching your sibling fall flat on their face, it is something you will all talk about for the years to come. The conversations at the dinner tables are always priceless and seem like they never end.

You always seem to share stories about the things you never thought you would. Often times, it's my siblings coming clean to my parents about all of the parties they threw while in high school. And most of the times, their stories included scenarios that made us all crack up. It seems like vacations, most of the time, help you to not get in trouble for things you once expected you would (you can just ask my brothers.)

Not only are family vacations a time for laughter, but they are also a time for cherished moments spent together. I feel like when we go on vacation we aren't plastered to our phones and computers (like we all usually are). I am able to have such real, and pure conversations with my family. It seems like we are able to have a full on conversation without having to worry about work calls, or text from friends.

In my opinion, I feel as if many people despise family vacations because they feel like they are going to miss things that go on at home. Whether that be parties, fun plans their friends make together, or they will just miss their friends, in general. But the truth is, you're going to miss nothing other than genuine times with your family if you're cooped up in the thought process that you're missing out on everything. The Twitter drama and pointless Instagram posts can wait. Family should not.

My family is lucky enough to be able to get together every year. I mean the grandparents, the cousins, the aunts and uncles; everyone. It's something I am able to look forward to, and get excited about, every year. We are able to have such an amazing and memorable time together. And I think I am really blessed to be able to have such an experience every summer.

Family vacations are something that I will always cherish. People often forget that anything can happen at any moment, and the circumstances might not be the same anymore the next time a family vacation comes around. Family is so dang important, and the time spent with them should never be taken for granted.

But overall, family vacations are an amazing time to just be yourself and have fun. You aren't going to be judged for what you're wearing, or how your hair looks. Yet, you might get judged for the dumb comments you make (which I always do). But no matter what, you will be able to smile and laugh with the people that care about you the most.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
