Halloween is over but before you start playing Christmas music and putting up your tree we still have another major holiday to be excited for: Thanksgiving. A holiday where we give thanks for what we have in our lives and who we share it with.

A time for families to come together and eat a wonderful meal prepared by wonderful family members with love. But, sometimes, you have those weird family members, like these.

1. The uncle that is literally just there for the food

2. The aunt that can't cook to save her life

She makes a dish every year, you know it is hers because it doesn't look edible. But you take some out of the kindness of your heart but will end up covering it with your napkin to throw away later because you couldn't even get the dog to eat it.

3. The cousin who gets mad when their favorite dish is gone before they've had some

They treat their favorite dish being gone as if the world is ending. If you took the last of it, you will definitely become enemy number one.

4. The aunt who doesn't want to help you cook

She shows up with a store bought dessert from Price Chopper and even asks you to cut it because she didn't bring a serving utensil for it.

5. Your little cousins in the kitchen helping you cook

Let's face it, they aren't helping.

6. The distant cousin who doesn't like anything you make

Picky, picky, picky.

7. Your brother who tells your secrets to your parents

8. Your moody grandpa who just yells at your grandma to cook

Let's face it. Grandpa has had to deal with Thanksgiving mode grandma for at least a week and he's tired of it.

9. Your sister who just acts like an idiot for attention

10. Your aunt who uses Thanksgiving dinner as an excuse to drink a lot of wine

Admit it, she uses every family function as an excuse to drink a lot of wine.

But at the end of the day they are your family, and no matter how crazy they are you are thankful for them.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
