The Importance Of Family

If you've ever seen The Middle, that is basically my family.

The Importance Of Family

This past weekend, my cousin Cole and I flew home to Washington, DC to celebrate our grandparent's 50th wedding anniversary. Relatives from all over the country flew in to enjoy the festivities and see family members who they have not seen in a very long time.

For me, it was interesting to see family members that I have not seen since I was a baby. Even though I did not remember them, they remembered me, telling me stories of our family from years ago.

When they had all left our house, I thought to myself how amazing my family is and how lucky I am to have them. There are so many broken families in the world today and I have been so incredibly blessed to have a close-knit family.

No family is perfect, I have my battles with my parents sometimes, and my siblings can occasionally get on my nerves, but I wouldn't trade them for anyone.

You get to make a lot of choices in life, but you don't get to choose your family. They are there when you are born, until the day you die and beyond.

Sometimes when I am away at college it can be hard to relate some of the things going on at home to my family since I am not there. College is stressful, and sometimes it can feel like the whole world is against you, and in those stressful moments, that is when a simple call to a family member can help you so much. They know you better than anyone, and when you need anything, your family is always there wanting to help.

One of my favorite things about my family is having dinner with my grandparents every Sunday when I'm home. I have learned so many things from them through these dinners, and some of the stories they have told me are so interesting. From my grandma being friends with Roger Maris, to my grandpa's stories of his days working for the Department of Justice, I have heard some of the coolest stories of my life from them, and they have taught me so much.

No matter where we are or what we are doing, time spent with my family is always filled with laughter, love, and good times, and I am so incredibly blessed to have them in my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
