New York City is the city that never sleeps and there's a reason they got that name. When you're there you never want to sleep because there is so much to see and do! Whether you are living there or just visiting, you fall in love with New York the minute you wake up or arrive. I have personally always loved New York and the experience that comes with it. It is an absolute dream come true the minute I enter the city.
One of the things that makes New York so great is the architecture of all of the buildings. Walking down the street in the more residential sections you see so many different exteriors of apartment buildings and can picture yourself possibly living there. Especially when you walk down these streets in the winter or the spring the neighborhoods look absolutely magical.
Now New York isn't for everyone because of all of the people that live there and come to visit and I agree that it can get a bit hectic at times. This is where my second point comes in: Central Park. This is where New Yorkers or even tourists can go when they want to escape from the hustle and bustle of city life and just relax for a little. It's nice to either take a stroll through, go for a jog, go to the zoo, sit and read the paper or a book, or take your dog to play fetch! Central Park is also huge so the chance that it will be super crowded is slim to none.
Another reason you fall in love with New York is the food. Whenever you hear of a new crazy food it is normally based out of New York. For example there is the Ramen burger from Ramen.co, those giant crazy milkshakes at the Black Tap, rainbow bagels at The Bagel Store in Brooklyn, the frosen s'more at Dominique Ansel Bakery, and those famous black and white cookies that everyone loves. No matter where you go in New York you will find good food.
Along with the crazy food I have heard they have great drinks and their bars stay open until 4:00 a.m.! Of course I wouldn't know because I am underage, but that is much later than most bars and they have some crazy drinks. Some of these include The Headless Horseman at Leyenda in Brooklyn, the Umami Mary at Bar Goto, a Metal and Dust at Kat & Theo, and so many frozen cocktails for the summer. I will definitely going to New York for my 21st.
There is also constant entertainment. Whenever you go to New York there are street artists everywhere you look. Whether it be dancing, live sculptures, caricature artists, singing or instruments you will never be bored. I was sitting on the steps of the Met yesterday and all of a sudden I heard a song from the lion king. A man had gotten up and started to sing to everyone that was sitting there, Things can be very spontaneous or planned such as someone coming to that same spot everyday.
I think the best part about New York is the shopping. If you like cheap shops they have that, if you like chain stores they have them and they're huge, and if you like the more upscale shops of course they have that. They accommodate every shopping need that you might have whether it be in Times Square or Saks Fifth Avenue or in Soho. Personally although it is stressful I love to go to Forever 21 in Times Square because it has four floors that rather than going above go beneath the ground floor. It is around 90,000 square feet of clothes, makeup, and jewelry. Every girl's dream!
I realize I already said the food was great, but I have to say that pizza needs to be a separate reason. From classic Italian style pizza to new types of pizza with crazy toppings New York has it all. If you want the best pizza ever, go to Lombardi's in Soho which opened in 1905 and was the first pizzeria in the entire United States!
So there you have it. All the top reasons that New York is the best place to either live or visit. I personally try to go at least once a year because I miss it when I am back at home. Once you visit New York once you'll want to go back immediately.
