It always seems as if a lot of relationships often start to bloom as fall comes around every year. It's the perfect set up between the crisp air and what seems to be hundreds of cute date ideas. It is very easy to get down on yourself if you are not one of those who is getting into a relationship around this time of year. Instead of sitting back and waiting for someone to fall for you, it's time you love yourself enough to be totally okay with not being a part of this trend.
It's time to fall for yourself this fall, and here are nine ways that can help you in doing that:
1. Dress cute enough to impress that guy you've been drooling over, but hot enough to not care if he notices. Fall clothes are flattering on any body type. Use this to your advantage. I am a firm believer in the saying, "look good, feel good," and dressing cute is the first step in loving the way you look.
2. Go on walks alone. The combination of bright leaves and cool air is perfect for seeing yourself in a positive light. Walking alone allows you to think about where you are in life and where you want to be. Setting goals is also the first step in becoming the woman that you have always admired and longed to become.
3. Take pictures. Pictures of nature, pictures of friends, pictures of strangers, or even selfies if you want. Fall sets the perfect backdrops and lighting for photographs not only will they look good it is a great way to relieve stress too.
4. Use the time as a new beginning. School didn't start up long ago for most and this is often the time that new jobs and friendships are formed. Use fall as an opportunity to give yourself a clean slate so that you aren't holding onto past mistakes or regrets.
5. Start a journal. The beauty in this is that no one has to see it except you, so write it all down. Your hopes, your dreams, your fears, your favorite song. Even if you only write a few words a day, you never know what you might end up learning about yourself.
6. Give yourself a break. Take a bath, go for a drive and blast the music, read that book that has accumulated a half inch of dust on it from sitting on your shelf. You can't do it all and sometimes I think we get to caught up in everyday life that we forget to sit back and take a breathe for yourself.
7. Count your blessings. Nothing makes you feel worse than constantly thinking about everything you wish you could change. If you love the way your hair falls after you blow dry it, count it, if you found the cutest shoes on sale, count it. Absolutely nothing is too small. You will be amazed at how much happier you will be once you start counting your blessings and not your worries.
8. Take care of your body. I am not saying you have to pass up all of those pumpkin-flavored goodies but do remember that if you put good things into your body, it will thank you.
9. Compliment yourself. Even when it seems like everything is wrong, there is always something that you are doing right. Pay attention to that and remind yourself that you are doing just fine.
To me, fall means fresh starts, carmel apples, and anything pumpkin spice. There are so many reasons to be happy, which makes this the perfect time to fall in love with yourself. You are beautiful, you are smart, and you are doing a lot better than you think you are, take the time to remind yourself of that.
