It’s that time of year again when the leaves start changing, days get cooler, scary attractions open up and everyone anticipates what’s ahead. If you are anything like me, fall is your favorite season. Between Halloween, Thanksgiving and all of the fun fall activities you can partake in, how could it not be the most wonderful time of the year (except the fact that winter and freezing temperatures are coming)? Dressing up, watching scary movies and going to Halloween parties is all so exciting. But what is it really about the season that make it so spectacular? Well, I am here to tell you!
Fall Foliage
To me, there is nothing better than walking down the sidewalk, hearing the crunching of the crisp, vibrant colored leaves beneath my feet. Fall provides such beauty, especially when it comes to all that nature provides.
Clothes
As summer dwindles down, pools close and the flip flops get put away, boots, hoodies, flannels and sweaters come out. Fall attire is my favorite. Warm sweaters, long scarves and pretty boots all scream out fall is here!
Pumpkins everywhere!
What better way to start of the fall season with some pumpkin pickin’! One of my favorite fall activities is going to Weber’s farm, picking out the pumpkin of all pumpkins, then taking it home to carve. There is something about doing so that puts a big cheerful smile on my face! Not only can pumpkins provide you with a fun, fall activity, but they are also very pleasant to taste. Pumpkin pie, oven roasted seeds, pumpkin spiced coffee, all make for perfect fall flavors.
Haunted Houses
Personally, I am terrified of even stepping foot into haunted attractions. The atmosphere is eerie, the darkness is unsettling and being unsure of what’s ahead is quite frightening. But isn’t that what Halloween is all about? Haunted houses will surely get you in the fall spirit.
The smells
The minute you step foot into your local mall, you cannot escape the smells that fall entails. Pumpkin spice, cinnamon apple, and warm vanilla are everywhere! Get prepared because the scents of Christmas aren’t far behind.
Halloween
A holiday that I feel everyone loves. Dressing up as whoever you please, receiving free candy and going to parties are what everyone looks forward to once September hits. Halloween is such a fun holiday with endless amounts of activities to choose from.
Thanksgiving
Once Halloween is over, preparation for Christmas begins. But before that, we must take a day and give thanks for all that we have. A day centered around eating with family and giving thanks; what could be better then that?
Bonfires
The smell of burning firewood, huddling close to your friends to stay warm and making s’mores over an orange, hot flame all mean bonfire time! This is one of my favorite outdoor fall activities.
Are you ready for some fooootbaaalllll
Come September, Sunday nights and afternoons are centered around rooting for our favorite football teams. Go Ravens!!!
Halloween movies
Hocus Pocus is my absolute favorite movie to watch to get in the fall spirit. I watch it probably ten times during the months of September and October and I’m not embarrassed one bit! Some other Halloween movies to watch are Michael Myers Halloween movies (my other top favorite), The Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, Halloween town, Nightmare on Elm Street and many many more. ABC family, recently changed to Freeform, has a 13 Nights of Halloween special which continuously plays Halloween movies and shows on a loop.
So now that I have put you into the fall mood, light up your warm vanilla candle, sit down with your pumpkin spice late, and watch your favorite fall movie!
