Crop tops and high-waisted shorts are cool, but summer fashion can be very basic. It’s easy to throw on a dress, accessorize nicely and be out the door. While the luxury of basic clothing may be enthralling for some, I think true style is portrayed during the colder months. Believe it or not, fall is right around the corner and fall shopping has commenced. Stores such as Nordstrom, Zara, Banana Republic and more fashion-worthy stores are finishing up their summer sales, which had great deals for fall steals.
Fall fashion is way deeper than shorts and a t-shirt or a simple dress. Don’t get me wrong; shorts can go a long way during the summer with nice pumps and a statement necklace, but how much fun can you really have with summer clothes? There are certain items you absolutely need in your closet to be ready for the fall. Whether you’re a fashionista or not, it is essential to look your best during fall—don’t just mope around in sweats and sneakers.
Here is your Fall Fashion Guide and major essentials, which you absolutely need to get the best looks this fall.
1. Leather Jackets
Leather jackets have been around forever and they don’t seem to be going anywhere. There are so many ways to style a leather jacket. The edginess of this outerwear can change the whole aura of an outfit. Some outfit ideas for a leather jacket include: A shift dress, statement necklace, with the leather jacket thrown over it, and a bag to complement the zippers on the jacket. For a chillier fall day, a leather jacket over a plaid button down, and ripped boyfriend is the perfect casual look.

2. Over-The-Knee Boots
These boots—some of us love them, some of us don’t. For many, over-the-knee boots may seem choppy to our appearance as they rise into our lower thigh, but I am 5’2" and I enjoy wearing these boots without feeling cut off. If you do, purchase a normal pair of riding boots for the fall. Riding boots are essential to fall because they complement so many outfits in a variety of ways. Riding boots can be for the casual girl who finds comfort in ripped jeans in a t-shirt, but also for the dressier girl like me, who finds comfort in fall-color dresses and blazers.

3. A Fur Vest
Fur vests are my personal favorite, and a favorite seen on blogs and runways. These furry-yet-chic and extremely stylish vests bring an aura to an outfit. Fur vests can be found in brown, black, red, green, and pink—just about any color. A lot of stores carry faux fur vests, which seem to be the trend among most Fashionistas. Pairing a fur vest with a button-down and midi skirt or a button-down and jeans could be the cutest outfit for a nice fall day.
4. Statement Blazer
As a die-hard lover of blazers, I cannot enforce how much blazers are essential to my closet for the fall. Denim jackets and leather jackets can be cute; however, nothing can spice up an outfit like a blazer can. There are so many colors to be found and prints. Everyone isn’t into having a closet full of blazers, but buying at least one statement one will definitely take you far this fall.
5. A Shirtdress
Shirtdresses have certainly become a trend in the past year. During the summer they can be paired with wedges, pumps, and even flat sandals. For the fall, there is so much to do with a shirtdress. This dress is essential because of all the outfits that can be made through one simple piece. With riding boots, with or without a denim jacket, a shirtdress is one of the easiest styles to pull off. On top of that, a shirtdress can be worn along with a colored blazer to complement the feeling of fall. Shirtdresses aren’t just sold in solid colors; there are also plaid shirtdresses which are great for fall, being that plaid is a popular fall trend, so the mixture brings trendy and in season style.
You may be enjoying the summer heat now, but fall is going to creep up in no time. Just think about it: Fall semester is a few weeks away, so why not fall shop? These are just a few essentials that major outfits can spring from. Happy shopping!
