Fall is finally here which means it's time to put away the tanks and Chubbies, and get ready for the cold weather. The transition from one season to another can be tough in the world of fashion; especially if those clothes don't fit from last fall. So, I'm here to help out the men with their winter wardrobes. There are a few key items every man needs in his closet to take his look from zero to hero, and the great thing is that they're all easily accessible.
1. Sweaters
Whether you are young or old, male or female, there is an undying love for the cozy comfort of a sweater. They are the key player to your outfit and with so many different types, it's always good to try different options that work for you. There is the the solid or striped V-neck, or a crew-neck sweater. Personally, I'm more of a crew-neck guy. There's also the classic turtle neck, although it's not in style. But hey, you could be the trend-setting man to bring it back. There's also the fair isle sweater, also known as the original Cosby sweater. Whichever look you choose, make sure it is something you feel comfortable and confident in.
2. Scarves
Scarves will definitely take your style to the next level. I am known for my decent collection of scarves and the one thing I always hear is that men don't know how to shop for scarves. I think that sometimes we are afraid to step outside the box and try something different. Before I started wearing scarves, I didn't know if I could pull them off but I decided to try anyway. I just found what I liked and tried to make it work. Here are some tips: If you have a scarf with a busy pattern on it try to match it with a more plain top. It always adds a nice touch to your look when you can match your scarf to other accessories like your socks.
3. Colored Chinos/Pants
Colored pants can totally change the look of an entire outfit. Whether red, green, or blue, pants can really let your personality shine through. Fall is the time to get away from the khaki pants and look into something in the burgundy family. I guarantee it will make a world of difference.
4. Shoes
I always say comfort is most important. Being in music, I sometimes find myself standing for hours at a time, therefore something comfortable is the priority. I feel like you can never go wrong with a brown shoe because brown will go with just about anything. Pair those shoes with a brown belt, add some earth-tones, and you'll be golden. I think you also have to consider the occasion; it's always best to have options.
No matter your personal style, you can always find something that works for you. Don't be afraid to take risks and try something new: you might discover a new favorite. Remember to dress for the occasion and more importantly, comfort. Finally, be confident in who you are. The clothes don't make the man, the man makes the clothes!
