Pumpkin Spice Up Your Dorm Room With These Decorating Tips

It's finally Fall, my favorite season and for many others, their favorite too.

You must admit there's nothing quite like walking outside on a crisp October day, sipping on a pumpkin spice latte, and listening to the leaves crunching under your feet. Although since fall has only just arrived, the weather hasn't changed yet and neither have the trees. The temperature is still well in the eighties and the trees still possess the rich green of summer.

Places like Pinterest and Tumblr are loaded with fall decorating ideas. However, after scrolling through those sights you may find yourself wondering where to begin and how much it will all cost.

Never fear though, I've narrowed down my favorite decor ideas to make your dorm room the perfect fall wonderland despite the weather outside without breaking your bank.

1. Leaf Window Clings.

Even if the leaves outside aren't falling, it doesn't mean you can't pretend they aren't. These window clings are available at Walmart for only 98¢. Yes, you read that right. These leaves are also easy to apply and don't leave a mess when removed. To apply simply pull off from the packaging and stick it to your desired location. When you're ready to remove, simply peel it off your window and it will "leaf" without a trace.

2. Wax Melters.

So this is probably my favorite as I always associate seasons with smells. Wax melters are perfect for fall decorating because they're cheap, come in virtually every design/color, mess-free, and they're RA approved. These sell at retail stores from anywhere between $15-$30, with wax sold separately of course. For the fall season, my favorite scents are "Marshmallow Pumpkin Latte" and "Pumpkin Apple".

3. Decorative Fall Pillows.

This decorating tip is another personal favorite of mine as I enjoy burying myself under a mountain of pillows at the end of a school day. This decorating idea is so easy and very versatile. Pillows come in so many shapes, sizes, and colors that you don't have to sacrifice your aesthetically pleasing theme, you can just match it up! The price of pillows depends on where you purchase them. Places such as Walmart and Target will have more budget-friendly options ($10-$20) whereas Kirklands and PotteryBarn will be pricier ($30<).

4. Blankets.

Ah blankets, the best thing for when you want to curl up with a good book while you sip tea. Like pillows, blankets come in many colors and designs. They're perfect for bringing a dull couch to life or adding extra coziness to your bed.

5. DIY Fall Mason Jars.

For this, all you need is bailing twine, mason jars, leaves (real or fake), Modpoge, and tea candles. These are perfect for adding to a desk or window sill. Check out the tutorial here.

6. Leaf String Lights.

String lights are a great addition to any dorm, but they're even better when they're fall themed. Purchase from Amazon, Potterybarn, Michaels, or Kohls.

Of course, there's plenty of more things you can do to make your dorm room feel like a cozy fall wonderland. These are just a few of my favorites that I've incorporated into my dorm room. Wishing everyone a Happy Harvest season!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
