Faith Is Important

Faith...a word that can be a tough conversation starter or a word that is strictly personal. When you think about it, should it really be a word to hold those two characteristics? The answer is probably not! This is because it is a powerful word. It is a word that can help a person through the toughest of times and also be right along with them in the happiest of times. Faith is something that isn't seen or bought, but rather it is just faith. It is something you believe!

Many of you may have struggled holding onto your faith in the past. Just know that that is okay because it can test our limits and our beliefs at times. It can make you question everything and ask why. Always know that faith has a plan, that plan is not a straight solid peaceful line to walk, instead it is a curvy dotted challenged line to walk. You may have to go through some hardships in order to see the good in things and to really appreciate them the way you should. During these tough times is when your faith might get tested. You may not understand why it is happening or why this would happen to you or someone you care for. This is when you may lose faith because you don't understand why this would be happening and there is no logical reason for it. Even though these are the times that your faith is tested and hard to hold on to, you should do your best to grasp onto it and believe in what is good and that it will get better in time.

This is a rocky subject because what is faith exactly? You can have the dictionary definition which gives you two options for the meaning of faith. 1. Complete trust or confidence in someone or something 2. Strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof. Both of these definitions have the same ultimate meaning. That is believing and trusting in something bigger than yourself. We all have hopes, dreams, and wishes that we believe will come true one day. We also have people that we hold to standards that we trust to do certain things. Faith is important because it is something you can always have to fall back on. If you truly look around you can see the work of faith, in order to see these acts you need to be unbiased and open to looking through different points of views. It is possible to see and believe in these acts of faith and when you do your life can be changed. You will be opened up to new things and new beliefs. Take a chance with your faith and always go back to it even in the hardest of times.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
