Fairfield's 13th Annual Presidential Ball was held on Sept. 30 on the lawn of Bellarmine Hall. The beautiful venue included a rockin' tribute to the 50's and provided the Stag student body the chance to dance the beautiful evening away. Stags celebrated the "homecoming" and start of the new school year, as well as the last Ball with the University's beloved president, Rev. Jeffrey P. von Arx, S.J. Of course, the evening was also spent by enjoying some serious Stag Pride. Those who were lucky enough to get their hands on a ticket to the sold-out event can attest to the enthralling environment of the evening, including the decorations, music and food that helped to make it so incredible.
When you entered the tent, it was like taking a time machine back to the 50's. From the giant soda float cutouts to the record backdrop and beyond, the scene was decked out with vintage items. The unique decor really brought the theme to life and undoubtedly wowed all attendees.
I think that the DJ did a great job of selecting a sick soundtrack that kept the party moving through the night. Given the packed dance floor, which remained packed until the end of the last song, it is evident that everyone else felt the same.
Last but not least, the unique food choices provided Stags with the fuel that they needed to keep dancing throughout the night. Featuring an authentic root beer float bar, chicken nuggets, popcorn and pretzel stations, and, of course, Fairfield's favorite mac & cheese bites, the selection provided a blend of vintage and contemporary food. Between the choices and the fancy manner in which they were served, it was the perfect way to commemorate the event.
Prez Ball 2016 was undoubtedly a hit. Shoutout to FUSA and all of the Fairfield staff who made the unbelievable event possible. I think that I speak for all of the attendees when I say that going to Prez Ball at least once is a must during your time at Fairfield. I hope to see you there next year when we celebrate the 14th Annual Prez Ball and our new University president's first.
