FaceTime has been around for a while now. But, I never realized how important it is until I moved away to college. Miss your friends? FaceTime. Missing your parents? FaceTime. Feeling lonely? FaceTime. It is the solution to so many problems.
As a college student, it is obvious that I don't live in the same city as many of my best friends and family. A text message is fine, a phone call is good, but a FaceTime is the BEST form of communication. I live by myself in a studio apartment and people always ask me how I keep from getting lonely. The answer is that I simply am always on FaceTime. I just checked my caller history, and yesterday I spent almost two and a half hours on FaceTime with many different people for different reasons.
Jourdain just wanted to see what I did yesterday, Alexis wanted to fill me in on her life, Abby needed to talk to me about her date function and show me her dress, Olivia and Rachel wanted to talk about Spring Break plans, Maddi talked to me about school, and I called to check in on Wyatt because he wasn't feeling good. FaceTime provides a platform for ANYTHING you need to talk about with someone. It is superior to a text or phone call because you actually get to see the person's reactions and facial expressions in real time.
If I ever have a question about something I need to cook, make or clean, I can always give my mom a quick FaceTime call and she can show me exactly what to do. It is truly revolutionary and has helped me so much throughout my first two years of college!
Don't underestimate the power of this form of technology. If you find yourself sitting there thinking about someone you miss, give them a call. It's always the best when a random FaceTime call turns into an hour-long conversation.
