This past Thursday, my friends and I went to see Newsies in the movie theater. It would be an understatement to say it was fantastic, yet that is the only word I can think of to describe what an awesome movie Newsies was! I am very bias due to the fact that Newsies is my all time favorite musical, but after talking to other people who also went to see it, we all agreed that what was presented on-screen was amazing.

Even though I prefer live theatre, the movie gave us fansies the opportunity to see Jeremy Jordan, the original Jack Kelly, up close and personal. His emotion was so palpable to the audience because of his facial expression, gestures and voice inflection. He was putting all his effort into his performance and the audience was definitely able to tell!

Seeing Jeremy Jordan, Kara Lindsay, Andrew Keenan-Bolger, Ben Fankhauser as well as the rest of the original broadway cast reprise their roles was every theatre-lovers’ dream! The camera angles brought you right up to the action and having the movie being filmed with a live audience made the movie viewer feel as if they were in the actual theatre.

My favorite two scenes of this incredible spectacle were seeing Jeremy Jordan perform a heart-wrenching version of “Santa Fe” and watching the whole cast singing and dancing to “Seize The Day” because that was such a high energy number! I also was amazed that the cast received a standing ovation after “Sieze The Day” which I believe was definitely necessary after such an outstanding performance.

I am so happy I was able to see Newsies on the big screen and I recommend everyone to go and see it! I loved how it turned out and I am hopeful that a DVD will be produced so that I can rewatch this wonderful musical over and over again!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
