Why You Need To Experience Spring Break In College

As sophomores in college, sisters of the same sorority, and practically sisters from living with one another our freshman year, we tend to have the same opinions on many things. Many of you should agree with us that experiencing Spring break in college is a must! Packing into two small cars with 9 girls is a great task but driving 16 and a half hours down to Gulf Shores, Alabama was by far one of the best memories we made in our college career. I learned more about my friends in that short week than I will ever learn in a lifetime. It's inevitable to become closer. The nights we would spend on the balcony of our condo talking about life or just screaming the lyrics to any rap song are endless. Those were the nights we took advantage of and soaked it all in because a week from then, we would fall into post spring break depression.

Post spring break depression is a very real thing that many of you will experience when coming back home to snow, or a huge test you didn't spend any time on "vaycay" studying for. This will be the hardest thing for any college student to en-devour in their college career besides senioritis.

Not only did we experience our friendship bonds becoming closer but we made friendships with other college students from different parts of our country. How could we forget the rowdy Tennessee boys that were staying two doors down from us, or the sweetest Mississippi State Boys we met on the first day...and our sisters of Alpha Phi from Alabama! We were able to learn so much about these people's life in the south and how it is completely opposite from the way we live in the northern part of the United States. From long days spent on the beach to waffle house at sundown, we were able to make so much out of it and you want to know the best part? We would wake up and do it all over again. The sunburn and peeling, to trying to piece back the night before with one another was too much fun. This is what spring break is all about, its college culture. It's essential because how many times will you be able to say you road-tripped 16 and half hours down south for a crazy fun week with your best friends?

Everyone has a stereotype of spring-breakers. A person that is disruptive, disrespectful, greek, and crazy. Our friend group overcame the spring-break stereotype and had fun! We met locals in Gulf shores, we gained 15+ snapchat friends, and grew within each other. Yes, spring-breakers are rowdy...but we all gather together to celebrate our week off from classes. We come together and make awesome relationships, learn about ourselves and traveling the country.

So why do you need to experience spring break? Start saving your money to make friendships of a lifetime. We guarantee your $200 (maybe $500...) will be very well spent.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
