Ever since we were little, we have all heard the crazy stories of college either from family, friends or what we watch on TV. So, it makes sense if we all have had some minor expectations to what college would bring. Here are some to only name a few:
Expectation: Thought to ourselves that we would go to the gym everyday and eat a healthy diet.
Reality: Ended up gaining 20 pounds.
Expectation: Thought it would be easy to maintain the same GPA we had in high school.
Reality: Barely passing all your classes.
Expectation: Excited to have a lot of spare time to do various fun college activities.
Reality: End up not leaving the library until 1 a.m. every night.
Expectation: Having so many friends on your floor that you hang out with 24/7.
Reality: End up seeing someone new in the bathroom for the first time halfway through the school year.
Expectation: Being able to manage your time and get ahead in all of your classes.
Reality: Waiting until 20 minutes before the deadline to start the assignment.
Expectations: Sleep was something you did not think you would need a lot of.
Reality: Actually takes three naps a day.
Expectation: Was rarely sick in high school so did not think it would be a problem in college.
Reality: What is an immune system?
Expectation: Thought you would set a budget for yourself and never sway from it.
Reality: Drops $80 at Target.
Expectation: Getting fully ready for your 8 a.m. will be a breeze.
Reality: End up wearing what you slept in.
Expectation: Surviving eight hours of classes in high school was a breeze so it should not be too hard in college.
Reality: Ends up falling asleep during a 50-minute lecture.
Expectation: Thinking you would meet your future spouse.
Reality: Has the realization that you’re going to be single for life.
Expectation: Will be able to go on really cool trips and see the world.
Reality: You’re actually broke.
Expectation: Thinking you will be actively involved with your school.
Reality: Realizing that you have become the laziest person you have ever been.
Expectation: Thinking that college parties happened every night and that you would go to all of them.
Reality: You’re too tired to function so whenever there are plans to party you end up deciding to sleep instead.
Expectation: Didn't even think about animals and how that would affect your college life.
Reality: Ends up that we are all insanely dog deprived and tend to get a little too excited when we see a dog on campus.
Now, that college is here and in full swing we realize the reality of things is not what we expected. However, college is full of twists, turns and fun surprises which makes college life enjoyable.
