Why I'm Excited Baseball Season Has Started

With baseball season just beginning, I can't help but feel excited. The start of baseball season means that so many of my favorite things are coming up right around the corner. Here are some I am especially looking forward to:

1. Warm Weather

Pretty soon the snow will be melted (thanks for the freak snow storm, April). The grass will be green, and flowers will be in bloom.

2. No School

Summer break is almost upon us. And, that means not having to worry about stressful classes for a while, which is always a much needed break.

3. The Beach

I constantly crave the beach and a tan during the cold winter months. Once it reaches 70+ degrees, I am always tempted to go to the beach. I mean what's better than laying on the warm sand, soaking up the sun?

4. Outdoor Concerts

With baseball season comes concert season. Spring and summer are the ideal times to have an outdoor concert, and here in New England there are always many concert options to choose from at varying venues.

5. Ice Cream

Not that I don't eat ice cream year round (because I do), but now that it's getting nicer out, I look forward to making trips to some of my favorite local ice cream shops.

6. Hiking

Springtime is a great time to go for a hike. It's not too hot or too cold outside. And with everything beginning to bloom, it makes for a scenic hike as well.

7. Amusement Parks

Now is the time to get your fill of rides and attractions at the various amusement parks. It's peak season for popular parks like Disney, or if you want to stay more local, Six Flags or even Canobie Lake Park up in New Hampshire offer many fun things to do.

8. The Pool

The day my parents open the pool is one of my favorite days of the year, because I know that summer is finally here. I can spend hours and days on end floating around my pool, listening to country music, and reading a good book. It's one thing I look forward to most and one thing I know I can always count on doing during the summer.

9. Driving with the Windows Down

It really doesn't get much better than driving with the windows rolled down, the wind blowing through your hair, and some great music blasting from your speakers.

10. Flip Flops/Sandals

As much as I love all of my boots, it's a great feeling to put them away for the season and finally break out the open-toed shoes. And that is also a great excuse to go and get a pedicure.

11. Gardens

I don't think there's any better way to eat fruits/veggies than picking them fresh from a garden and enjoying them right then and there.

12. Extra Happiness

I swear everyone seems happier when it is nicer outside. I know it puts me in a better mood.

So, as you can see, I am excited for baseball season, because baseball is the catalyst for the rest of these events and moments. It is just the beginning of my very favorite time of the year.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
