5 Ways To Survive Finals

With finals season creeping up on college students everywhere, we all need a little help. These tips should work for all tests that you may have to take in high school or university. These are tips that I use when I study, revise, and take notes and they work really well for me.

Use a planner.

I know that this tip is seen everywhere and gets repetitive, but it works. Using a planner or agenda will allow you to see what you have to do on what days.

Knowing what you have to do and when you have to do it will keep you from overworking yourself. When you use your planner or agenda make sure to plan and map out time for you to study.

Start studying at least ONE week before the test.

In the case of tests that are not finals or midterms, start studying a week before the test. Studying one week earlier gives you some time to spread out how much you have to do in one day.

This will also give you time to go over the material for the test and understand it. Studying earlier will also prevent you from staying up all night studying the night before your test.

Find out how you study best.

If studying with friends helps you learn then get a group together and study. You can make flashcards or study notes, whatever works for you do it!

For example, I cannot use flashcards but studying my notes or having friends quiz me helps me study.

Use Quizlet.

Quizlet is free and is such a good resource. You can enter in the topic that you are studying on the site and find quizzes, flashcards, and games built to help you learn and retain the information.

Get enough sleep before the test.

If you stay up all night studying, you are going to wake up tired and have a harder time taking your test. If you stay up all night not studying, you still are going to wake up tired. If you stay up all night instead of sleeping and you wake up and over-caffeinate, you are still going to be tired.

Getting enough sleep will give your brain time to process and store the information for your test so that you will remember it. It will also make you feel more awake and if you need or want to study five minutes before the test you can.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
