Everything Positive About The 2016 Election

Okay, so if you are like me, this is your first election voting in. And you might think to yourself “I’ve waited this long to vote, and these are my options?” Trust me, that thought was something that occurred in my mind 24-7. However, there are some really good things that came out of the 2016 election. Things about both the democratic, republican and the third party candidates and just about the whole process. So, without further a do, here is some of the most positive things that came out of the election.

-New and “creative” ideas!-When I say this, I am mainly talking about republican candidate Donald Trump. Donald Trump’s idea of building a wall and having the Mexicans pay for it, is an idea like no other. Our country has had problems with illegal immigrants, as well as illegal drugs as well as other things, coming into our country. Even though I personally don’t agree with a wall, I do think that it is a new idea. It’s an idea that no presidential candidate has thought of ever before. It’s an original idea. We have a problem with illegal immigrants and I definitely think Donald Trump is one of the first candidates to really address this issue.

-”Popular” 3rd Party Candidates-This is the first election, that I believe that the third party candidates have gotten a lot more attention than in past elections. Gary Johnson for Libertarian and Jill Stein for Green party. I think the reason that the third party candidates became more popular this election is surprisingly because of Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. Some people believe that both Clinton and Trump were horrible choices for president. However, they still wanted to express the right to vote, so as an alternative, they voted for third party candidates. Many people refused to vote 3rd party because they thought it was a waste of vote. However, this years election provided 3rd party voters two good selections as alternatives. Gary Johnson received small percentages in certain states during this election. Also, both Jill Stein and Gary Johnson went head to head in their own debate.

-First female to make it this far- This is one of the most surprising things that came out of the election. Personally, I admire Hillary Clinton for her determination. She never gives up. She made history as being the first woman to make it this far in a presidential election. And that says a lot about our country. Women were not allowed to vote around the 1920's and now women are taking positions in our political systems(minus first lady of course, which has been around since George Washington was elected.)

-Memes!-So many memes were made during this election toward Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. Something like the memes below were two of many that were made during this election. The Memes gave us Americans a chance to laugh. This election has definitely been one of the most stressful elections and we needed that break.

-SNL- I have never watched Saturday Night Live until now. Both Kate McKinnon and Alec Baldwin did an amazing job at playing both candidates on SNL. SNL recreated all debates and Kate McKinnon did a special video with Hillary Clinton herself on SNL. I would always look forward to SNL's version of the debate. I especially liked the version of the second debate, when Hillary was answering someones question and Donald stood right behind her. For me, that was the most iconic part of all of the SNL skits as well as the debate.

So there you have it. This election is definitely one of the most memorable and even though there were so many negative things about this election, there were some positive things as well.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
