Part 10, The Perfect Day Everything all out in the Open (Finale of Volume 1 of The Perfect day)
After the confrontation with his brother James. Carl could not shake the feeling that Kolby was not being honest with him.
Why do I get the feeling that Kolby is lying to me?
Why do I suddenly believe in what James said?
As all of these thoughts plagued him. He thought about what he would do next.
Meanwhile back on the other side of town. James was prepared to prove his theory and he set his plan in motion.
Later tonight, my brother will know that Kolby is lying to him again.
I will prove that I am the father of her baby.
Sadly, James had always been jealous of Carl and he had always longed to take what did not belong to him. However, he knew Kolby was not good for Carl. He loved his brother and did want him to be happy.
I am going to expose Kolby.
Carl needs to be with his one true love.
Besides I love Kolby.
He smirked for a moment. All of a sudden the phone rang.
“Hello, this is James.”
“James, this is Andy.”
“Andy who?”
“I am a lab tech here at Mercy General.”
Suddenly James knew who was calling.
“Yes, Andy. “
“I was given a message to call you.”
“Yes, Andy I need to meet with you. “
“Can I ask what this is about?”
“Look, Andy, I am an attorney and I need some information on the night Kolby Klein was admitted and I was wondering if you could be of assistance.”
“I swear I don’t know what you mean?”
“Now, Andy I heard you were the lab tech in charge in the ER. I know the Doctor got re-assigned. “
“Look ah.”
The young man on the phone sounded alarmed and his voice seemed to crack in between.
“Andy you should do the right thing, ” said James.
James was very good at interrogating people. After all, initially he had his sights set for Criminal Law and decided on litigation just like his brother Carl.
“Okay, I will tell you.”
“Go ahead and speak.”
“Ms. Klein hired someone to pay for her labs and also had me look the other way.”
“My Andy you do know that is a federal offense right? Tampering with evidence and not to mention being a willing participant in this lie.”
James could hear Andy taking deep breaths as he spoke.
“Andy? Andy?”
“Y-essss,” he cried out.
“Look if you give me the info I will leave you out.”
Andy paused for a moment.
“How do I know I can trust you?” asked Andy.
“You will just have to take my word for it.”
“Okay, I will send you all I have.”
“Thank you, Andy let me text you my email and fax.”
After they hung up James could not stop from grinning.
“I got you, Kolby.”
As for Rachel, she was planning to go out on her very first date. It was clear to her after the last meeting with Carl that she needed to just stay in Chicago. She did miss him and would always love him but she really could not deal with the pain his love had brought her.
I want to be happy.
Carl is in the past
I want to be happy in the present.
Goodbye Carl.
She felt a bit nostalgic and emotional but was at peace with her decision.
Then as she walked out of her Apartment she smiled.
Here’s to a new Beginning.
Back in New York Kolby set out to meet Carl at his office.
She had called him about going out to dinner together and decided to just go and pick him up.
As she got closer to his office. She sensed the quiet in the office.
“Carl I am here.”
Carl stood by the window. He was silent and did not answer.
“Carl! Carl!"
Then he turned around.
“You know Kolby when I met you and we got together I really saw a future with us.”
Just then Kolby became nervous.
“I thought we would be together and then build our life and family,” he added.
Kolby began walking towards Carl.
“Carl, what is going on?”
Carl tried to stay calm as he glared right at her.
The cold demeanor in his eyes said it all.
I think something is wrong.
He knows.
“Kolby I should have walked away from you since I found out about you and James.”
“Carl baby lets talk about this, Now darling.”
She began faking pain to get his attention.
“Kolby please stop it!”
“Carl, you are upsetting me and the baby!” she cried.
“Baby! Are you kidding me right now!” he lashed out.
“Carl, what is the matter?”
“Kolby come on now!”
“I don’t understand what is happening now!” she screamed.
“ Kolby, I know you are not pregnant and you never were!”
She again tried to walk towards him.
“Stay back, I do not want anything to do with you!”
“Carl, come on how could you say this?”
“I am telling you the truth Kolby!”
“What lies are these? Is it Rachel? James?”
Carl could not believe his ears. He began pacing.
“Are you serious right now?” he asked.
“Come on Carl, you know I would never lie about having a baby!”
“Kolby, I have proof!”
“How? What?” she asked.
Kolby was confused and angry. She began to shout louder and louder.
“Carl you can’t be serious!”
“I am serious James brought me the proof and now I know and so does everyone
else!”
“Everyone!” she shouted.
“Yes, James shared the news with me and your parents!”
“James needs to stop ruining my life!” she screamed.
Carl looked at Kolby.
“No you miserable tramp, you ruined your own life!” he shouted.
Kolby was startled.
“Now get out of here!” he added.
Kolby stormed out of the office.
“This isn’t over Carl!” she cried.
“Just go now, Kolby!”
Once by the elevator. Kolby could not contain her rage!
James, you will be sorry!
Mark my words!
Now Kolby felt lost and helpless.
Back at his place. James began to listen to a smooth jazzy song.
Then his phone rang.
“James.”
“Yes, Carl.”
“Thank you.”
"Don't mention it, Carl."
Then he hung up the phone and continued enjoying his song.
Back at the office, Carl stared at the picture of Rachel.
I don’t know how or when?
But Rachel Smith I am going to win you back once and for all.
For now, The Perfect Day was not to be but Carl had hope.
This was a series I created as a tribute to Soap Opera’s and I was paying homage to them. I worked on this 10-part series and this was volume one of it. I plan to work on Volume 2 and keeping this original characters as well as introducing new ones. Stay tuned. I hope you enjoyed it. .
