I have always told myself that everything happens for a reason, and that God has a plan for each and every one of us. I believe that there's a certain path that life wants us to take and that each thing that happens in our lives, good or bad, was meant to happen. Just think about every little decision you've made, and how it's gotten you to where you are right now. So the next time something really bad happens to you, I want you to think about how it was meant to happen for a reason, even if the reason is unclear at the time, it will become clear.
There are many things that have happened in my life, like I'm sure they've happened to lots of people, where you just have a "why me?" moment. But I promise it's something that was supposed to happen to get you to where you were going. This whole idea of everything happens for a reason reminds me of the country song by Darius Rucker called "This". A line from the song goes like this, "For every stop light I didn't make / Every chance I didn't take / All the nights I went too far / All the girls that broke my heart / All the doors that I didn't close / All the things I knew but didn't know / Thank God for all I missed / 'Cause it led me here to this."
I think this is such an important message to understand because people tend to get so down on themselves when things they don't want start to happen. Little do they know that it is all in the stars and it's actually just life working its magic and guiding you in the right direction, even though at the time it may feel like the wrong direction. There are certain things in life that are going to be hard and going to be tough to get through them and you might ask yourself why you have to go through it. From now on though, stop asking yourself and just learn to go with the flow.
I've really learned to just accept what's happening at the moment and tell myself that it is all happening for a reason because I know from personal experience that it's extremely true. I didn't get to where I am today without a few mishaps or unexpected things happening to me but now I am a senior in college, playing my last semester of division one tennis, loving life, and I couldn't be happier.
