In today's society, everything is out of hand. Political candidates are getting away with breaking the law and more cops are getting killed. Cops are the people in this world who save, protect, and help make this world a safer place. It kills me how the people who protect us are getting targeted and are unappreciated. Let's face it, no matter what, people are going to be racist. There's going to be racist judges, lawyers, teachers, doctors, etc. I just don't understand why all police officers are getting judged as a whole for just a handful of racist ones.
The world is not perfect. Things will be unfair. So I don't understand why now police officers all over the country are in danger and getting attacked. This whole "black lives matter" is ridiculous. ALL LIVES MATTER. I personally lost my temper after Dallas. How is it justifiable to these people to kill innocent cops for something they didn't do. You can't judge all cops for mistakes only a couple have made.
Both my step dad and dad are in law enforcement. Recently there has been days where they both have received mass emails to keep their guns on them whether they're on duty or not. Now I'm scared for my dad to go to work. I shouldn't be scared of my dads safety, especially when he is the most kind hearted non racist man I know.
What most people don't know is that cops risk their lives and safety even more now. What I'm saying is say a black person looks like they are about to hurt them. Many cops who should shoot in defense refuse to now because it is so easy for them to get in trouble for it. My dad recently told me a story about when he was in the field for a case. One night he and his team broke into a sex offenders house after getting a warrant. As my dad broke open a bedroom door in the house, he saw the huge African American suspect sitting in a chair facing him. My dad describes the room being as tiny as a walk in closet. He said right as he knocked open the door the suspect raised his right arm up at my father as it looked like he had a knife. What my dad should have done in the moment is protect himself and shoot. But instead, he didn't. He said he is so reluctant to shoot black people even if his own safety is on the line. Luckily, it was a syringe and the suspect was trying to inject something into himself to kill himself. That day, I could have lost my dad. Cops shouldn't risk their safety because of problems going on with today's society. Everyone's lives matter.
