Without music, life would be quite dull.

Why Everyone Needs Music

Music is a remarkable and powerful thing. I was blessed to grow up in a very musical family, many of my ten siblings and my parents are musicians, singers, or dancers, so as you can imagine music was and still is a part of our daily lives. It is common for us to randomly break into song with other siblings quickly joining in with harmonies and everything. It has certainly made life fun. The music always filled me with joy inside. It makes you stop and listen; for a few minutes, your whole world pauses, all the noise and problems stop as you get lost in the song. Few things can make you pause like music can.

For that very reason, I, and I know many others, have found music to bring healing. At some of my lowest points music helped comfort me, it helped me express inexpressible feelings and process my emotions. Sometimes music also just helps by causing you to pause and for a moment forget about your pain.

Music is created out of human emotions. I think that is why it is so powerful. It can cause the listener to feel with the music. If the music is joyful, the listener suddenly finds themselves feeling joyful too. Similarly, sad songs will also move the listener deeply causing them to feel sadness with the song. Some songs can even be so moving that they make you cry. Think of movies, for example, you may not realize, but music plays a very important role in how you feel in certain scenes. Sad music at certain points may actually be part of the reason you begin to cry. The music helps you to feel what the character is feeling; it allows you to connect deeply.

It does not matter what kind of music; every genre and style have its own way of moving us. Music of all kinds brings color to the world, it makes our lives rich and full with emotional expression. It causes us to connect with our deeper selves and the feelings of those around us. Music can communicate feelings, so it can go deeper than mere words. It is a language of the heart and soul.

Aside from being able to express a wide range of emotions, move us deeply, and bring healing, music is fun! Music has this way of lighting up a room, bringing joy to people, and making them dance. I think our lives would be dull without music it has certainly made my life much more enjoyable. It helps you to let loose and be free; forget about all your worries and cares and just be yourself.

Music also has this way of bringing people together. It is a common interest, and language that can bring many people of different cultures, walks of life, and languages together to enjoy a common experience. Anything that brings people together today is extremely important since so many things try to divide us. We all need something to bring us together and that is why music is so powerful.

All forms of music are powerful, but there is something extra special about experiencing live music. When the music is live, it connects with your soul, you can feel the energy from it and it is hard to not be affected. Attending concerts and live musical performances will impact you and leave you with unforgettable memories. I still remember the orchestra performances I attended and the live music I heard on the streets or at festivals. They were lasting memories I will not forget. I also love hearing my siblings singing or playing on the piano, not even for practice or performance, but just for the joy of playing it. The music fills the room and it is beautiful. I love the organic and personal feeling that live music brings. If you have been feeling down lately, I recommend going and finding some sort of live music near you and listening to it, it might do you a lot of good.

Next, to the joy of hearing live music, is playing it yourself. I love playing my violin just because it feels so amazing. I love feeling the music and getting to let out all of the inexpressible emotions through it. Not only does listening to music help heal you but playing music yourself does as well. You don't have to be an expert, just try making music by yourself some time, if nothing else, sing along with your favorite song simply because it is fun and feels good!

We all need music in our lives, without it, our world would be quite dull. So, don’t feel bad about putting on some headphones and listening to some good tunes to brighten your day. Enjoy jamming out even if you’re no prodigy. The whole point of music is to let loose and express yourself, to let out all of your feelings. Enjoy the music, express yourself, and find healing and joy in music.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
