Recently, I attended a Darius Rucker concert hosted at the PNC Bank Arts Center. And man oh man, was it, good for a good time... Yes, that was the name of his tour for anyone who wasn't aware. Now, if you aren't a fan of country music or can't stand the sound of it, yes I will tell you the concert ISN'T for you. But! If you're down for some good vibes and country lovin', buy yourself a ticket to the next country artist you're interested in!
1. Tickets Are Inexpensive
My friends and I purchased lawn seats which is exactly what it sounds like, a huge lawn with the option to bring sheets or lawn chairs to sit on, or you can stand. These tickets are very affordable even for people like me who contemplate on buying a shirt for only $10.00.
2. Tailgating
I'm sure most people know what this is but for those who don't, tailgating is parking your car in the parking lot and practically boozing the day away hours before the concert starts. Most people do this because to purchase an alcoholic beverage inside the center will cost you a hefty amount of money that will most likely cause you to say to the vendor, "JUST TAKE MY MONEY!" whilst looking the other way. Plus, it's a great way to interact with other concert goers.
3. An Experience With Your Friends
So, none of my friend's have ever been to a country concert either. That being said, we had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. Leave it to us to forget, cups, real food to eat, (I say this because I don't think Lunchables counts), a sheet to sit on and a speaker... Which led us to our car battery dying from leaving the car on while playing music. Thank God people who noticed our panic, came to our rescue and jumped our car. See what great people attend these concerts?! Thanks again, fellas. All in all, we made a memory to never forget... And all decided to make a checklist for next time.
4. Warm And Touching Tributes
During the concert, Darius Rucker announced about the donation he's made to the Fisher House Foundation which consists of donating money to soldiers in war that have been injured in combat and will have a home to come home to. He brought a couple on stage who were more than grateful and the entire stadium broke out into a chant of, "U.S.A! U.S.A! U.S.A!" Another tribute that he made as the closing act was him singing Prince's iconic song, Purple Rain. The entire stage was lit up with purple lights and you could feel the energy of the crown singing along and swaying with the beat.
Overall, if this sounds like something that may catch your eye send a group text to your closest friends about going. You won't regret it, y'all.
