Everybody Wants To Go To Heaven, But Nobody Wants To Die

At the center of bringing any dream into fruition is self discipline.

Ninety-nine percent of us are not willing do what it takes to make our dreams come true.

Sometimes the truth hurts, no?

The biggest obstacle to our success is ourselves. Self doubt. Self confidence. The biggest deterrent to our desires are our attitudes toward them. Everybody wants success, but few are willing to sacrifice what is necessary to achieve.

What are we missing?

The will. The belief. It's as if we write our desires in sand and then don't understand why they disappear when the wind blows. Write that shit in concrete and never forget it.

At the center of bringing any dream into fruition is self-discipline. This means giving yourself an order and having the wherewithal to see it through. It's continuing to knock and knock at the door until it opens. It's taking control of your attention, your focus, and your drive.

It’s not about your body as much as it is your mind. Getting command of your mind. It’s the most challenging part. It's the part most of us go our entire lives without really getting a grasp of, without really testing the limits.

It’s about the decisions we make and the impact those decisions have on our pursuit of happiness (great movie). We consciously make decisions that aren’t in our best interest (example: I really want to get in shape, but I've also got this pizza and Netflix...).

We know what we want but we doubt ourselves. We undercut our belief but insert skepticism and then justify it based on what’s perceived as “realistic.”

We absorb the doubt and fear the rest of the world projects. We succumb to “their” opinions and expectations. We don’t even give ourselves a chance. We stop before it even gets started. We want it, but not enough to overcome the pressure around us.

So if the world is attacking you and the world wants to fight you and the world is holding you down, why are you hurting yourself? An unfortunate reality is the amount of doubt and negativity that surrounds us, so we cannot afford to compound that with our own.

You cannot win the war against the world if you cannot win the war in your own mind.

What makes them right? What makes you wrong?

The bigger the dream, the bigger the deterrents others will throw at you. That can’t work! What are you thinking? This is what’s right! This is what’s safe!

Achievement is defined by an unwavering self belief and is rooted in a resolute purpose. You’d be amazed at how far you can go with these two things. Put forth the effort. Make the sacrifices. Avoid stagnancy. Make the commitment to success.

Everybody wants to go to heaven, but nobody wants to die.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
