What Every Upperclassman Misses About LU

"Uhh...two things"

At Liberty University, there have been many changes. In fact, the changes never stop. Since I came here for CFAW in March of 2012, the campus has changed immensely. For example, when I came for CFAW, the Welcome Center was just being built, the library was still in the first floor of Demoss, and more more things. I am a senior, and I feel old, but as I look back it's kind of funny to realize some things that the Class of 2019 will never know about.

1. Uh...Two things.

First and foremost, Johnnie Moore. Before David Nasser there was this young, hip ball of energy. His ability to expand a minor two points to a whole sermon was outer-worldly (I wish I had this skill in ENGL101).

2. And I said, "Jerry...."

The amount of class of 2018ers and '19ers that do not know who this man is is literally INSANE! Once or twice a semester Elmer would get up and give us an hour long history lesson that was pretty much the same every time.

Hence:If you don't know what this is... you're probably an underclassman.

Also, if you never took a class with our co-founder, you missed out BIG TIME.

"It's this... not this.. but this."

Demonstrating his views on same-sex marriage...You had to be there.

3. Justin

And his alter ego.

4. The Courtyard

I don't know who kept putting bubbles in here, but it was always funny. College kids get so bored. Remember the chair?! Also, the quickest way to walk from convo to class or the Rot.

5. The Princess Steps

RIP to the reason we skipped leg day: the most awkward, difficult steps in the world. The reason for so many laughs and the longest falls of our lives. For those of us who lived on the Hill, we made it.

6. Dress code

Yes. Believe it or not, guys were once written up for being out of dress code... for not wearing a collard shirt. God bless those days, but good riddance.

7. Campus Church

On Wednesdays, we went to church. Not quite sure what a campus community is but...

Liberty University, a place that is always changing. We love our university and the memories we've had. Watching this place grow is like watching a child grow up, I am so excited to see where this school ends up in the future.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
