In honor of turning 22 last month, I’ve come up with a list of 22 essential things every girl should know by the time she is 22 years old. As told by our all-time favorite cast of our all-time favorite show.

1. Know how to make herself a decent home cooked meal

Making yourself a home-cooked meal seems daunting at first, but is rewarding once you’ve mastered it. I’ve got a few go-to recipes for pasta and meat dishes, as well as an abundance of breakfast foods.

2. Know how to assemble things around the house

Even the most basic knowledge of setting up furniture is a useful thing to know by the time you’re in your twenties. Being able to be self-sufficient is a top priority when you start living on your own.

3. Know how to handle tough situations with her close friends

Getting into disagreements with our close friends has the potential to break a friendship if you’re not careful. Although I’ve had some bridges burn, I’ve also learned lessons from each situation.

4. Know how to be organized

You don't have to be organized like Monica, but develop a system early on and save yourself stress down the road.

5. Know how to do her laundry

Don't forget to take the red sock out of the white load.

6. Know what she wants in a relationship...

Trust, love, support, and companionship.

7. ...and how to be true to herself in a relationship

Just be sure you know if you're "on a break" or not.

8. Know how to flirt

You don't have to be perfect, just get the other party interested and you're in.

9. Know how to be true to herself

Listen to your gut feelings and trust your instincts.

10. Know how to resolve disputes without acting like a child

Know how to resolve disputes without acting like a child.

11. Know how to relax and take time for herself

Putting yourself first isn’t selfish, especially when you’re experiencing a lot of stress either at work or at school.

12. Know how to do her own makeup

But knows she doesn't always have to wear makeup if that's what she prefers.

13. Know the importance of celebrating her accomplishments, no matter how big or small

Even doing a crossword puzzle on your own is a big deal!

14. Knows that her friends come first because nothing will replace that bond

Girl's night in > every other night

15. Know how to be okay with ‘embarrassing’ herself in public and brushing it off

All the strangers you see, you won't see again.

16. Know how to dance

Or at least look like she knows how to dance.

17. Know the basic rules of grammar

So you seem like you care about your work.

18. Know how to see the positive in the negative

Every situation has a silver lining and it'll make you so much happier when you focus on that instead of the negative in the situation.

19. Know that everything will work out in the end

No matter what, everything will come together. Remember how Rachel had no idea how to live on her own? Well she figured it out and everything worked out for her.

20. Know how to own up to her mistakes, learn from the situation and move on

Part of being an adult is owning up to your mistakes and making a conscious effort to change your behavior.

21. Know what her priorities are

Whatever it is, knowing what your priorities will help you in your personal life, your job and your relationships.

22. Know that her mom’s advice is worth listening to

Even if you don't want to take it, you know her advice makes sense no matter what.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
