Someone, somewhere, started this whole myth that guys and girls can't be purely just friends, or even bestfriends for that matter. And you don't need myth busters to figure out that is a lie. Because I have the best of bestfriends a girl could ask for, and hes a guy.
I seriously do not know what I would do without him, and dont know how I survied before him. So heres what every girl needs in a guy bestfriend, and everything I get from mine.
He should always give the best advice.
He should always tell you what he thinks, and honestly. A great guy bestfriend wont hold anything back, he will be totally honest when he just knows that the boy texting you is a bad idea. I cant even tell you how many times I have asked my girl friends what to do and then immediately dissmissed thier opinon and turned to my guy bestfriend. I trust his one bit of advice almost more than the multitude of female advisors. It just seems much more pure to me. Any girl can and will turn their back on you, but your best guy friend wont, that is if you have one as great as mine.
Shopping should always be better with them.
Whether he needs clothes for formal or you just need new jeggings, your guy bestfriend should always be there. He will tell you honestly if your outfit is a little too much, and trusts your instincts when it comes to colors that look good on him. Because lets be honest, blue is just blue to a guy, but in a girls world there are like 100 shades of blue, and not all of them are flattering. Of course, after about two hours he might get a little tired of you asking over and over if the same shirt looks good or not.
He should be protective, and so should you.
He should always be interested in who you like. Becuase he wants the best for you. He wants you to get exactly what you want out of life. That is why sometimes he might act as if hes your big brother. And you should be this way for him. To me, theres almost no way i'd just let him date whoever. Because I know that whoever ends up with my bestfriend will honestly be the luckiest girl in the entire world. She's got to have my approval first, but im sure if he picks her, she will be great.
No matter what, he should be more than a friend, he should be family.
Whether its staying up late talking about how stressed we are in class, or laughing untill we cry, he should be there. He will be. If he is as great as mine. He should let you cry when your heart is broke and let you laugh when he says something stupid. Because someday we will both be married with families, but we will always leave a spot for them at our seperate tables, just in case.
Me and my best guy friend, were like Meredith and Karev, and every girl needs thier own Karev. I thank God that I have mine.
