Even Though It's Not "Cool"

Why did I start writing for you all?

Even Though It's Not "Cool"
Quick and Dirty Tips

One question that I imagine most of you who are reading this are thinking is, "Why did Daniel decide to write?" And before I answer that, let me thank you for giving my words a chance to take up some of your valuable time. Getting the chance to put something creative in front of new people (okay, mostly my friends and my Mom's Facebook friends) is a thought that is scary yet thrilling. Though that thrill might be there for me, that doesn't mean that everyone understands what I am doing. That is the thing that I want to explain to you all in this few minutes of reading.

As I get older and learn more about the world and the people in it, I find myself in awe of individuals who have special talents. No longer am I jealous of a guy that can do more pushups than me, or a friend who is better with girls, but instead there are talents out there that constantly have my mind wondering. Most of these talents are things that have never been seen as "cool" for college kids to enjoy. These impressive traits are everything from knowing how to draw, knowing how to build a computer (I hope my best friends make it to this part), all the way to knowing how to talk about the stars. Things in life that are most appreciated by only the people who are good at them. These are the things that aren't "cool" but they fascinate me.

At this point, you may be wondering how this comes back to me and why I decided to start writing. Let me tell you how. This platform that I have been granted allows me to share my thoughts, feelings, opinions, and words with people who don't care what is "cool" or not. You would never make it this far in a piece of writing if you weren't open minded and willing to listen to a person like me for a few minutes. Using my words, I am able to shed some light on all of us who don't have "cool" thoughts or ideas. That is what I plan on sharing with everybody. Over the course of time, you will see my thoughts on everything from emotions, politics, humans, college, music, and everything in between. Ultimately, however, I find peace of mind whether 10 people or 10,000 people read what I say because I know I will have stayed true to myself and done something that I have always wanted to do. So thank you for taking a chance with me today and for the weeks ahead. Because even though it's not "cool" it is what I enjoy doing.

-Daniel

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
