I am convinced there is no stronger bond than the one that exists between UGA students. With over 37,000 students all coming from different backgrounds, the one thing that binds us all together is the love for our bulldawgs! Whether it be from “calling the dawgs” downtown on a Saturday night after a win or just simply saying “go dawgs” to a complete stranger wearing any kind of Georgia apparel. The comradery that comes along with those two simple words is unlike anything I have ever experienced, and there is truly nothing finer in the land.
However, going to UGA does not just consist of gamedays and going “dt,” a lot of effort is put in by each and every student here. And sometimes no matter how well you prepared for that chemistry or accounting exam... you are still going to fail. At the time, it feels like the end of the world, trust me I know I have been there! It is then that you think back on all the amazing memories and good times this beautiful university has given you.
One moment I will never forget was going to "frat beach" for the first time. Frat beach is a section of beach in St. Simons that is completely covered in UGA students the Friday before the Georgia/Florida game. My friends and I got to the beach right as the sun was setting, and I will never forget how beautiful that sunset was. There was just something special about that night because as I looked around at these girls I just met a few months before I could tell they were feeling the same thing I was. As I was standing on the beach with some of my closest friends, I just took a deep breath and was filled with total serenity and bliss, and I thought how lucky I was to be a Georgia bulldawg.
In that moment, all the worries of school work simply faded away and I was just so happy to be in good company and be able to share this moment with some of my friends. For a brief second, no one was worried about if they had a homework assignment due that night or if they needed to start studying for an exam that is still a week away. The only thing that mattered was we were at the beach to cheer on our dawgs.
With finals season upon us, it is easy to get lost in the countless hours spent in the MLC. I believe that during times of great stress it is the most important to remember all the good times UGA has brought me. I can say with a hundred percent confidence that even on what feels like the worst day, it’s still great because I have the privilege to call myself a bulldawg.
