Whether it’s getting lost in a great book, immersing yourself in a videogame, or entering a character’s life in a binge-worthy TV show, the escape from reality these mediums provide is indescribable.
Don’t get me wrong; life is great. I am perfectly content with where I am at in my life right now. With that being said, sometimes an escape from reality is needed. Life can get rough from time to time, like it does for everybody. When this happens I immediately turn on my Xbox, or pick up a new book.
Seeing life through someone else’s eyes can not only help you forget about the mundaneness of everyday life, but these escapes can help you see new aspects of your own life.
This may sound stupid, or even a bit cliché, but there has been numerous times in my life where I have been faced with a problem, and through escaping reality in a video game, I have implicitly learned a new way to face the problem at hand.
Whether it’s a quest in a video game, or how a character in your favorite TV show handles a saturation of their own, mediums of escaping reality are wonderful, even if you are extremely happy with where you are at in your life, just like I am.
