Cual Es El Punto De Las Protestas?

Mucha gente piensa que las manifestaciones no son formas efectivas para traer acabo cambio.

En Portland Oregon desde que se supo que Trump ganó la presidencia se han organizado y manifestado protestas al igual que en otras ciudades a través del país. Pero mucha gente no ve el punto de estas protestas, y no les gusta que se muestren estas manifestaciones en sus ciudades por diferentes razones.

Cual es el punto de protestar? En realidad cambia algo? Ayuda en algo?

La respuesta a esas preguntas es que si. El protestar es una forma efectiva e histórica de demostrar resistencia contra la cosas/ideas que están protestando, y solidaridad entre las comunidades siendo afectadas. La protesta es solo una forma de organizarse y también es acompañada con otros esfuerzos y acciones dirigidas al cambio.

De acuerdo con civilliberty.about.com, las protestas tienen impacto al hacer cosas como demostrar visibilidad de la causa, demuestra poder en números, promueve solidaridad, crea relaciones entre activistas, y energiza a los participantes.

Mucha gente está enojada por el vandalismo que se tomo acabo durante la protesta el jueves por la noche, o por la obstruction de tráfico. Es importante reconocer que la protesta fue organizada como una protesta pacífica y gente que no considero como nos afectarían sus acciones, vandalizaron y dañaron negocios cercanos. Y mientras tengo que admitir que la obstruction de tráfico quizás sea algo enfadoso, la gente que voto por Trump y la gente que no esta en solidaridad con nosotros no tienen por qué decirnos cómo nos deberíamos de sentir, actuar, o protestar. Tenemos todo derecho de estar enojados, tristes, o furiosos. Lo que para ellos es una enfadosa obstrucción de tráfico para nosotros es un evento que se manifiesta porque sentimos que nuestras vidas están en peligro.

Me tocó atender una manifestación el miércoles por la noche y la verdad no hay palabras para describir lo que sentí al ver gente de todas razas y colores, en solidaridad con las comunidades que Trump a amenazado. Tenemos voz y vamos a ser escuchados.
